XCOM First Impressions by GameMarshal.com

My first impressions, the game looks like a budget title. The biggest problem with this generation is game pricing. Some games just aren't worth $60 but for less, I'd take a chance on my games I haven't played.

good point .

I am not judging this game in particular since I have not played it, but I agree that lots of games this gen should have been a lot cheaper, perhaps 50 or 40. At that range more gamer would have bought them and those who bought it would not feel burned.

I also feel that what the developers of Section 8 Prejudice are duing is very promising and hope that more developers take note.

60 is just not appropriate for every game.

I watched that demo and I wouldn't necessarily say that it gave me a feeling of a budget title, but the graphics were somewhat simple however. There is definitely not the same level of detail we see in games like Farcry 3 for example. When I watched that demo, the first thing you noticed when it loaded is the high amount of detail on the vegetation, every leaf looks unique.

I do agree with your point on pricing however. Looking at something like Farcry 3, I'd have no problem shelling out 60 bucks, I can't say I feel the same way looking at XCOM. I guess time will tell how this plays out, but I think if they price it competitively, this game has a good chance. From the gameplay perspective, it does look pretty interesting and the team has created some unique moments that do put you on the edge of your seat. (Like that moment in the demo where the soldier ends up being the infiltrator alien, was unexpected).

From the *new* Xcom franchise. The original was developed by Julian Gollop and Mythos games. He is currently in charge of Snapshot games and his latest take on Xcom was Phoenix Point.

I'm all for more tactics games. played Phoenix Point on Game Pass (ended up purchasing it), it's good...but doesn't have that same XCOM 2 feeling. Would love to see what these guys have to offer
