Sony Hackers arrested : No involvement of hacking PSN

Arstechnica says: "Though Sony was one of the organizations victimized by the hacktivists, the official statement issued by the police did not indicate any suspicion of involvement in the hacks that forced Sony to take Playstation Network offline for weeks, nor the subsequent hacks made on Sony Web properties by LulzSec. Rather, the three hackers appear to have been involved with the denial of service attacks of early April. Vocal Anonymous faction AnonOps has long denied that Anonymous had any involvement with the broader, more serious attack against Playstation Network."

So despite all the premature "USA, USA" style celebrating based on some vague information they're, unsurprisingly, still no closer to pinning the PSN hack on anyone?
Consider me shocked. This is my shocked face :|

Eamon5122d ago

I suspected in the first place that they only caught some Anons behind the DDoS attack and not the real culprit behind the personal data theft that led the PSN to go down for weeks.

Apparently it's pretty easy to track down culprits of DDoS but I'm pretty sure the infamous unknown PSN hacker would have covered his tracks properly before stealing millions of people's personal data.

artsaber5122d ago (Edited 5122d ago )

I knew these guys were a part of Anon's lame DDoS attack, one of the groups you worship. I am glad they got caught, and the amateur data they left on their PCs may help apprehend others. And let's not forget the fact that these clowns are afraid of butt rape in prison, so if they know names, ips, anything they will roll like a pair of skates.

Don't worry, LulzSec is not as tight as you think. All it takes is for them to hack the wrong host where someone cares enough to utilize the type of resources to capture a few. All you need is a handful anyways, people will start to rollover and data can be extracted to help further investigations.

The network rule stands, if you can reach someone, they can reach you back - all the proxying, rotating mac addresses & ips, and shredding hdds can't save you. Just catch a handful, these guys aren't hardened, a week of jail would break 90% of them, they'd sell their own mothers out just to get out of prison.

Eamon, I have no idea why you support such a PROVEN lame group of losers. I.E. Internet bullies, E-tough guys who would literally piss themselves if their door got kicked in. It is an odd vision in my head that your hero consists of a zit-faced, bologna breath, overweight nerd with piss soaked pants in handcuffs.

thorstein5122d ago

^^ Bubbles for you. These little pansies that hide behind their keyboards are hardly tough enough to handle real prison life. They will roll on the actual perps.

And. All of their hardware has been seized with tons of information on them.

mousearmy5122d ago

I think you're far too optimistic about the chances of catching the hacker. There's still no good evidence it was done by LulzSec. The file left on the server is laughable.

Also, chill, there's no need to be so bloody hostile to someone who made a perfectly reasonable comment.

Well said mouse... and just remember, back in the caveman days, yes muscles mattered. Fast forward and now brains matter more than brawn.

Don't look down on people that can bring a multi-billion dollars company business' for a 3-week halt!

... but they're also behind all my favourite memes.
Well, not exactly the same people, but same group~ish~thing.

Then again, they're also behind some of my least-favourite memes. =/

Eamon5122d ago

lol, I didn't mention any support of them at all in my comment you idiot.

it's not an online protest, it is an Attack against a network not owned or operated by the person or person's attacking, an anyone caught can be charged under the RICO act for these type of actions.

even being "Anonymous" will not save you from this result, if you are caught, an you were part of a denial of service attack or Attacks, you can be tried under the RICO act.

which is the same act that criminals are charged with even if their international. For EXAMPLE:

"Although some of the RICO predicate acts are extortion and blackmail, one of the most successful applications of the RICO laws has been the ability to indict or sanction individuals for their behavior and actions committed against witnesses and victims in alleged retaliation or retribution for cooperating with federal law enforcement or intelligence agencies."

PLEASE NOTE UNLIKE:

Continuing Criminal Enterprise Statute

The RICO ACT has no such limitation:

"whereas the RICO law can be charged for a variety of organized criminal behavior."

a DDOS attack is what's that word

"organized"

is it

"criminal"

yes...there you go!

thorstein5122d ago

Exactly. They caught these little basTURDs and now they will roll over on the real perps. This is how criminal investigations work.

joeorc5122d ago (Edited 5122d ago )

hey thanks, i see someone did not agree with us on this well let me again post a few lil titbit's of info.

What charges can you face for email hacking?

http://bhbodeezy.com/genera...

now lets say they catch one of these low on the pole Script kiddies, an they Charge him under the RICO act but, He's not a big enough fish...

They throw the lil fish back in the lake to catch the much larger fish.

that's the great thing about these types of catches, they can be used as a lever to catch the larger prey, an many times the larger prey will not know it until it's too late.

remember they are

Anonymous

you do not know who or what group is on the other end.

baker_boi5122d ago (Edited 5122d ago )

@joeorc

I think yall a lil too optimistic about "catching dirty hackers!"

Yall do understand "Anons" are mostly just a bunch of kids running the same DDOS script dont you?

You know they dont actually know any famous or adept hackers right?

You do realize anons are like government protestors, as in they don't really have much power to do anything else but protest, and that is their right.

I think yall the same type of kids as well, but now you've named yourselves "Public".

Stop tryna seem like you actually give a damn about a bunch of nobodies being arrested. They aren't going to help Sony catch whoever hacked them.

And going after these guys isn't going to do anything but aggravate an already stupid situation.

There's been some good protest work coming out of the Anon group, and I dont want you buttholes lumping them in with any of your Videogame idealistic crusades.

"You do realize anons are like government protestors, as in they don't really have much power to do anything else but protest, and that is their right. "

once again DDOS is not a protest, call it anything you want it's an attack an it is being treated as such.

"And going after these guys isn't going to do anything but aggravate an already stupid situation. "

so letting Hackers get away with causing damage to online networks is going to aggravate an already stupid situation?

well boo hoo hoo lets all have some pitty party for some hacker's an their feeling's.

"There's been some good protest work coming out of the Anon group, and I dont want you buttholes lumping them in with any of your Videogame idealistic crusades."

they attack networks that do not belong to them, they are doing criminal act's.

they want to protest do it the right way, taking the law into your own hands is not the right way to do it. I have not one iota of a doubt that some of them have great an good intentions, but that does not give anyone any right's to do what the hell they want to good intention's or not.

"Get off the internet on a videogame site and become a cop if you wanna fight crime"

I have the right to be on here just as much as you, police an other people can be gamers also
