Xbox 360 Has 'One And A Half Years Left'

Speaking to Nowgamer at E3, Gearbox’s Brian Cozzens, fresh from showing off Aliens: Colonial Marines to suitably impressed journalists, divulged that a next-gen is still at least a year and half away.

I reckon 2013 after April. Any sooner seems to soon especially with major results from Kinect (there main focus right now). 2012 is a little soon for both Sony and Microsoft.

It doesn't mean Microsoft will suddenly stop supporting the 360 when the new system comes out. Unlike the original Xbox, the 360 has a much larger install base so I don't see them dropping support for the 360 anytime soon.

i dont see the releasing a new console in q1 2013 unless its near tax time. it would make more sense for it to be release holiday of that year considering it will be when people are buying gifts and what not.

Nintendo's Project Cafe hurt no one..no games will be shown until NEXT E3..unless there is a bunch of bombshells at launch...the system is going to be overshadowed by Micrsoft will lead E3 and announce their new system for Fall 2013.

Gears of War 3, Forza 4, and ultimately Halo 4 are the 'swan song' games for the 360.

Halo 5, Gears of War's next game..Forza 5..the next true Fable..Alan Wake 2..and Infinity Ward's next Call of Duty (with 7 more years on the DLC exclusivity ) will make it onto the new system. The KEY factor which Microsoft has over EVERY other ocnsole is that people have invested into their achievements and Xbox Live accounts and believe me when I say we are all going to get the 360 console to continue our Live accounts. I'd imagine Sony won't pass up an opportunity to show hardware as well..but they may wait..depending on how well 3D and Vita are doing..

im speaking of North america, i cant speak for other countries, i dont know when their busy retail seasons are.

however i would assume that they would release it here first and then other countries after since its an american owned company, if they do a timed release

Doubt that given Halo 4 holiday 2012 on 360...more like 2013 Q3/4. That will give Halo 4 a chance to make some profit.

Actually if you watch the halo 4 annoucement trailer it doesnt say for xbox 360. Everyone just assumed it is.

Good point..but not even close.

Halo 4 is in a similiar position as Halo 2. Micrsoft won't risk releasing Halo 4 to a non-existing fanbase that would have to buy a new system to play it.

Halo 4 will release next Holiday to what could be over a 60 million install base and a 45 million+ Xbox Active Live user base.

Not only that, the price of an 360 will be at it's lowest the entire gen. All faring well for Halo 4 to grow the brand with an entirely new trilogy.

Just because I have a Live account and achievement points doesn't mean I am going to buy the new Xbox. In fact, as of right now MS imay have a pretty hard sell to me. They started out this generation great but ever since I got my PS3 when MGS5 was released it's slowly become my primary console. And the Kinect push certainly hasn't helped things. Hell when my XBL Gold expired in January I didn't even renew it.

Good for you never said it was for people who don't care about their account..But, millions of us who LOVE their achievements aren't gonig to leave the system at all..and I feel that it's a bonified advantage for Micrsoft to keep a significant amount of it's audience.

To pretend Kinect had anything to do with your Xbox Live account is silliness..why would it? Good for you if you didn't renew..the people I game with would go bezerk without their Live accounts..just like PS3 owners did during the outage.

I think your GT/Gamerscore will go with you to the next console. You could transfer it from the Xbox to the 360. I don't think you'll have to give it up at all.

I mean there will be probably Alan Wake 2, PGR5 and new Ruffian projects ready for 2012 or Microsoft will probably just transfer those to Launch Games of the Next Xbox.

I think Halo 4 will be a launch title for the 'new' xbox , it doesn't matter if major games are still being released for the X360 as the new xbox will most likely be backwards compatible.

Halo 4 might be the last Halo on Xbox 360. Then for next-gen will probably be Halo 5 and 6 which are also confirmed just didn't mention what system.

I don't think devs want to release major games when there's a new Xbox out. There probably going to start developing right away for the new Xbox.

1-2 years is good for me for the end of the Xbox 360. Although, I'm not going to dish out $500 or more for the next Xbox so I'll probably wait a while or buy a PS3 that will last for quite a while.

I heard MS was trying to push 360 until 2014 due to all their planning for Kinect, they didnt just invest all that money in Kinect for another year and a half.
