His words on PC makes me want to hug him & cry on his shoulder! I would love to buy 24 gigs on memory!!

I'm the biggest fan of him and proud even though he not my country.

Munky2690d ago

The man is a genius, listening to him speak is a treat.

IAmCornHolio2690d ago

I think genius is overstated. He is very bright, and he probably has more experience with 3d game programming than anyone else, and is even responsible for a lot of innovations...

But Genius should be reserved for things like... discover polio vaccine, rewrite the fundamental laws of physics, realize that peaceful resistance is just as effective as violent resistance...

But yes, he is very interesting.

Munky2690d ago

In terms of gaming, he is a genius.

Redgehammer2690d ago (Edited 2690d ago )

I disagree. Genius does not have to be limited to just those sorts of acts. The man is brilliant, to not say he is a genius, is crazy to me. Dictionary.com list this as its first definition of genius "an exceptional natural capacity of intellect, especially as shown in creative and original work in science, art, music, etc.: the genius of Mozart."

Nobel prizes are set aside for people that discover vaccines, achievements in physics, and in attepting to lead the world to peace. Those people should be honored, but people like John Carmack, or Corrinne Yu, have certainly earned the title of genius, too.

I simply disagree with your opinion of what constitutes a genius. It's pretty much defined as someone who is exceptionally intelligent or creative and I'd say Carmack nails both of those with his hands tied behind his back. He's an amateur rocket scientist who wins hundreds of thousands of dollars with his creations and gave us 3D gaming.

In an age where 3D real time visuals are fast approaching a limit as to realism this guy steps forwards and STILL makes ground breaking advances. Read a little bit about what he wants to do with id tech 6 and you really get a sense as to just how incredible this guys vision really is.
