Nintendo's Greatest Designer is Leaving the Wii Behind

Kotaku's Luke Plunkett writes, "Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario and Zelda, is winding up development on Wii games, the Nintendo legend revealed today."

The story is too old to be commented.

Yes, considering the Wii U is announced, I am sure many people are winding down their support for the original Wii. No news flash here.

SilentNegotiator2690d ago

The Mario/Zelda guy is done with Wii? That was fast. Alright, Wii, hop in.....hop into your grave! That's a good gimmick! Good boy!

Letter: "And to my dear son, WiiU, I leave my shoes"
WiiU: "They don't fit! They're too big!"

ABizzel12690d ago

I wonder what it's like to work for him?

SilentNegotiator2690d ago

Just Peach-y?
Toads of fun?
A lot of using the pipes?
A Link to success?

lizard812882690d ago

@ ABizzel1
My friend said, he wants it his way or no way, and he's very demanding on coding. since my friend can program, he joked about programing for him, but he said he only wants the best of the best.

But he said it would still be cool to work for him or nintendo

@lizard81288 - Yeah? Well my friend said your friend was lying.... :D

But the wii-u is coming next year, they gonna cut production of the wii right after the new one is ready for the shelves?

BiggCMan2690d ago

Microsoft did the same thing with the Xbox when the 360 came out. Gamecube was pretty non existant once Wii came out. Sony is the only company that makes their consoles last normally.

theonlylolking2690d ago

I personally do not think he is that great anymore. We still see the same games over and over again. We got super mario galaxy and that was innovative and fun but then he did the exact same thing for its SMG2.

ChickeyCantor2690d ago

O no, he makes a sequel thats even better than the first one...He is so mainstream now.

captain-obvious2690d ago (Edited 2690d ago )

Shigeru Miyamoto is the godfather of console video gaming

BUT now he is just a name in Nintendo games
sort of an old legend

pcz2690d ago (Edited 2690d ago )

i told you so. now mayamoto tells you so. apologise!

as if half a year with no games on wii wasnt big enough an indication for people to realise the wii was dead. some people are just idiots. they claimed i was a hater. now mayamoto says wii is dead you will have to accept it! lol i was right the whole time!

wii is dead.

i feel sorry for nintendo because they didnt show the wiiu in the way they could have.

i feel disappointed.

by the way- wiis dead.

ChickeyCantor2690d ago (Edited 2690d ago )

" apologise! "

hahaha no.

There are still some games coming, its only logical they will jump console.

You might say its dead, but to others its not.
Thats exactly your problem. Its only your view and you demand everyone to see the same.

you should apologies for being so awfully arrogant.

homer2690d ago

Wow. By that logic, any person who makes a sequel, no matter how good, is not a good dev. Funny how you had only one example too lol, which was poor considering how SMG2 is an excellent game.

radphil2690d ago

You can't speak bad about anyone on here. People will hunt you down, even though I wonder how people constantly get excited like that.

lizard812882690d ago

I hate to agree with you, he is more or less the father of gaming, but these days, he has questionable design.

For example, They wanted more levels in Steel Diver, but he said no. so there were no more levels. kind of sucks.

I feel sorry for Nintendo fans, this WiiU looks horrible IMO

VampiricDragon2690d ago

I feel sorry for you who judges on looks

Everyone whose played with the system and controller have been blown away with how nice everything is.

user83971442690d ago

Really? Where? I have read that the controller feels awkward.

VampiricDragon2690d ago (Edited 2690d ago )

Actually you didnt. If you did you would of linked it. As it stands you appear more to be trolling.

Every single playtest put up on n4g, ign, patcher, destructiod, kotaku, 1up, everyone have been blown away

The controller is light and comfortable

"Nintendo was also smart in making the new controller extremely light for its size, resulting in something that might look strange but is not as burdensome as it would seem. "

"The tablet itself appears large, but is actually quite comfortable to grip"

"In a word, they are both fantastic. In concept, execution, scope and entertainment, they are leaps and bounds beyond what you experienced on Wii."

But then again I am on n4g.......any real links and sources and playthroughs dont matter if its not osny

radphil2690d ago

Yea, and people had same positive impressions with the Wii's initial Wii Remote and people are just tired of the thing.

sikbeta2690d ago

What I don't like is the [email protected] controller, also that thing goes against of the whole motion-control gaming the wii capitalized during this gen...

He became overrated over the years.

I stop caring about Nintendo after Gamecube. It seems that they have nothing else to offer besides Mario,Zelda,Metroid,Pokemon and Kirby. It becomes very repetitive "IN MY OPINION"....

eagle212690d ago

man please....yet he still has higher critically acclaimed titles than 99% of these copycat, overrated wahooos in the industry.

AWBrawler2690d ago

wow is that a cigarette? I never imagined Shiggy as a smoker

AWBrawler2690d ago

old pic. see how young he looks? lol he used to smoke and gamble, which makes sense lol because Nintendo gambles a lot
