Bobby Kotick Comments On The Lack Of Console Footage Of Battlefield 3

GameThirst: Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has been mostly quiet when it comes to discussing Battlefield 3, but EA’s own CEO John Riccitiello hasn’t done the same when it comes to Modern Warfare 3. The latter has said that their game, Battlefield 3, is blatantly superior to any Call of Duty title, and that come October, it’ll beat Infinity Ward’s latest offering. Bobby Kotick finally decided to share his opinion on the matter.

“Well so far I’ve only seen Battlefield 3 shown on a PC,” he said, “so I haven’t seen it on a console which is where the bulk of our business is. If it’s just the PC titles as it looks like today, that’s a very small audience to participate"

I had to quote that because it so true. Bobby is such a smart guy. EA and Dice are making a mistake by investing so much on the PC. It gone to sell more copies on consoles so that should be your main focus. Seriously this guy is a genius.

I have to agree with Warprincess there: EA is blasting away the PC version of BF3 and October is so close - nothing on consoles. Activision on the other hand, promotes all COD titles like they were console franchises.

DigitalxPiracy2688d ago

Yeah, because when a developer decides to make a game the first thing they say is "how can we get the most money from this product?" Some developers actually WANT to make games that they WANT to play. If that means making the most powerful platform (PC) the lead - so be it. That's not to say that they don't want to make money but EA/DICE would not invest so much time, money, and effort into BF3 if they thought it wouldn't be a huge success.

WAIT hold on a second, i have PS3 and an XBOX but my pc is where i play all my Hardcore titles like crysis and half life and what not. Bobby isnt being smart by saying that, thats just stating the obvious because so little game footage on consoles has been shown, Its DICE and EA being smart because the footage they have shown has been on PC and the grapics are ten times better than they will be on console, therefore giving people the 'WOW' factor, bf3 on console will look better than mw3 on pc FACT! and bobby is a gready twat. And you have to remember Dice arent going to turn their backs on pc gamers like IW did with MW2. Games like bf and call of duty started on pc, and because of that both games are as big as they are today, another FACT

TXIDarkAvenger2688d ago

Well.....MW3 has dedicated servers confirmed lol

Totally agree with you. Kotick just cares about getting as much money as possible by milking the CoD series.

HenryFord2687d ago No dedicated servers for CoD:MW3:

To be fair - The CoD-Franchise had them until CoD:MW

He's Jewish of course he's a marketing genius.

HardCover2688d ago (Edited 2688d ago )

Bobby Kottick and you both got fooled, then.

The footage of BF3 you saw at EA's E3 was a mix of all platform's footage.

This article? Hook. Line. Sinker. Let's see Kottick actually talk up his game and not talk down BF3. I know he needs to since DICE are on another level, but I'm willing to at least listen.

For proof:

"Mr. Riccietello mentioned that the gameplay footage that was presented so far was taken from all three platforms ( PS3, Xbox 360, PC) and that the viewer can't see any difference since the game looks almost similar on each one of them. After that Electronic Arts CEO continues that the main goal of Battlefield 3 isn't only to share market cut with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 but also to be better and create a better gameplay experience."

It's within the first 2 minutes of the video.

I agree. I love this series, but I feel as a console gamer I'm getting double shafted by DICE and the PC community. 24 player battles are bad enough without PC kids dogging on the console version. I'm excited for this game, but I'm not going to buy it if they half-ass the console version just to please PC trolls.

This guy is a genius by doing what 90% of the multiplat developers are doing? riiiiight...

@Bobby Kotick -- Just admit is, Battlefield 3 is a much better game than MW3 in every way. Be A Man.

Grenadan2688d ago

for once i agree with him

Focker4202688d ago

Its really easy for him to say that since CoD has been using the exact same engine for the past 4 games.

Upbeat2688d ago

Exactly people that priase or even agree with anything that comes out of that mans mouth are retards and have clearly been brain washed somehow

PirateThom2688d ago

Alternatively, Activision has only shown console footage of MW3... and it looks exactly the same as MW2...

I think DICE and EA know what they are doing, they're making sure people know "this is what our engine is capable of", Infinity Ward can't touch that on PC and I question their ability to touch it on consoles.

dragonyght2688d ago (Edited 2688d ago )

TRU but lack of console build presence is worrisome if they want to go after Activision numbers console should be top priority ya i know its sux but thats reality.
i mean BF3 will be a technical masterpiece that along will not do it you think the average cod crowd will spend 1000 of dollar to get those qualities

HardCover2688d ago (Edited 2688d ago )

EA already have a HUGE marketing campaign planned, from what I've read. They're not taking this as a joke, in case you haven't been able to tell. In fact, I've already seen BF3 footage on my TV saying it's all ingame and whatnot. I shit you not, here's the youtube link:

PC is a major platform. Activision doesn't show that off because PC gamers know they made some sub-par ports. It's clearly a console oriented experience, that's for damn sure.

If they were trying to push industries standards, they wouldn't go around saying "PC? So what." and releasing a title every year. BF3 is clearly a more "serious" project than COD, and you can bet your aunt sally that it'll convert a few COD players (to say the least).
