I've known about this information about IPTV for the Xbox 360 for quite a while. According to my source the service will technically be provided by DirecTV and/or AT&T, depending on where you live. Apparently there will be as many custom adjustments made as possible, so that as many people can receive the service as possible.

This is one of the same sources that have confirmed Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII have both been in development for the Xbox 360 for quite a while...and that is the same source that confirmed Devil May Cry 4, Virtua Fighter 5, Assassins Creed, Unreal 3, and Fight Night Round 3 were all in development for Xbox 360.

In other words, this is a reliable source.

You say the service (albeit a rumor atm) is possibly going to be offered via DTV... I had always heard Micro was working with AT&T to offer IPTV via Broadband dsl, of course I don't have any insider info, I use to work for AT&T when Micro first got togethor with Ma Bell on IPTV... of course, I am aware that AT&T works with DTV on the East coast as well. If your statements are accurate, then this is outstanding news !

Thanks for the post !!!

Well your source is a very unreliable one because FFXIII and MGS4 is not coming to the 360. Stop wit it already. How many times do you have to here someone tell you these game can only be done on the PS3. Here listen one more time from a Konami employee

@ D!ck

Well everybody knows who that source is after that information ;-)

Second, the info you're giving has also been put out some time ago, so I am surprised others are surprised about it. Even the integration in the fall update doesn't surprise at all, because MS has stated they would get IPTV before the end of this year, as is also the Video Marketplace at last coming to Europe.

@ solidt12

So how are YOU so sure MGS4 and FFXIII aren't coming to the 360? I have heard that a lot of times about other games, like Devil May Cry 4, Virtua Fighter 5 and other games that in the end are confirmed for the 360. They're probably just waiting for the right moment, possibly after it driven sales by saying it's 'exclusive' on one system and then milk the franchise on the other system also. Konami & Square Unix are both 3rd party. As is Epic, but those on the other hand had a deal with Microsoft before releasing Gears of War. Konami & Square Unix just want to have the highest profits possible to get in the market.

Yeah AT&T sent me an E-Mail mentioning IPTV as a service but didn't mention the 360 (but they don't have to)

but i'd rather have Video Marketplace in Canada!

Zhuk4872d ago

this is awesome and far superior to the PSN 2.0 update which is a massive disappointment

Ps3Fanboy7774872d ago

Seriously I thought the 360 was for playing games?

toughNAME4872d ago

IPTV wont take away from playing games....

good try fanboy

This just makes the 360 even MORE better than the PS3. simple as that

BLACKJACK VII4872d ago (Edited 4872d ago )

Whoa, if true this could be HUGE......

This has been rumored for quite a long while for the Fall update this year, but I have wondered if it would actually hit in 2007. Awesome ! As soon as it is available I think I will be kissing my good old TIVO goodbye...

I guess it shouldn't be that surprizing, as Micro has been wanting to do this for awhile....

A system truly unifying TV, HD movies, Music, & my PC all in one box.

Sweet !!! ... M$ need to put out a 300+gb hardrive now !

A very reliable source said that a while back he actually saw a DirecTV Blade on the Xbox 360 dashboard. At the time this happened Microsoft was talking with both DirecTV and AT&T. Apparently the Blade may eventually arrive, but perhaps not in the initial offering. Also, DirecTV and AT&T may be working together, just as you suggested, because of their business relationships in certain parts of the world.

One other thing that I keep hearing about from these reliable sources is that there will also be a new Blade dedicated to Xbox Live Arcade in the Dashboard with the new fall update.

Thanks again man, from all the Xbox fans at N4G. This is great news !
