Metal Gear Solid 3 Video Comparison: 3DS vs. PS2

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is heading to 3DS later this year. The new E3 2011 trailer for the game features footage from the opening cut-scene and gives us a chance to see how the game stacks up to the original version on PlayStation 2. PS2 version is definitely better looking. Glad I can buy it in HD come November though.

Idk...I'm buying a 3DS eventually and it would be pretty damn cool to play MGS3 on the go.

wow....the original demo looked so much better. 3DS version has some different textures but it looks identical (actually a little worse) to PS2's version. I thought the 3ds was suppose to be more powerful?

Making a game, and making a demo cutscene rendering program that *looks* like a game, are FAR far different things.

Tech demos almost always look better than games can possibly look, because they don't have to burn resources on actually being a game. There's often no physics, no way (or limited ways) of character/camera control, no dynamic FX, no dynamic culling or occlusion, no streaming of level data,.. tons of stuff that you NEED when the player can control the character and camera, but just don't in a demo.
