Good, i can't wait until this game is good enough, FFXI faced similar problems when it was released in Japan, but two years after that was an awesome game to play :)

Kamikaze1355147d ago

No it didn't...XI had plenty of content at launch and wasn't littered with as many problems as XIV was. I played it when it first launch. Still...I enjoy XIV more and hope these problems get addressed sooner than later. I'm tired of seeing these promised updates .

Yoshida is in place of a former producer at the studio, and has since been working on this ideal for complete revamping of the title. Expect nothing but improvement from him in the future.

Balflear875147d ago

The FFXI that came out in NA wasn't the FFXI that got released on it's first year :P

I guess we'll have to wait until an expansion for this one

well in ffxi's defense ps2 wasn't holding back ffxi at launch.

ps3 version hasn't even come out yet and it's already limited by it.

Tony P5146d ago

Consolization has nothing to do with it.

FFXI was developed for both PC and consoles at the sane time so it's not like FFXI did not have the same kind of restrictions.

Whatever happened with FFXIV, it's not due to consoles. It sounds like it was simply rushed out the door.

I hope this gets on track to the point where SE actually goes ahead with the PS3 version. I may have to return to XI to get my fix if things aren't moving by the fall.

They should let it die with dignity

X-Zone5146d ago

I believe the PS3 version will be incredible. I thinking it will end up being something like XII, which would be perfect.

montyburns0005146d ago (Edited 5146d ago )

how is the PS3 going to magically help a shitty game? you must be a raging fanboy who thinks anything that touches your console turns to gold. sorry to shit on your parade but FFXIV sucks and it will stay free to play because japanese developers couldn't develop a MMO if their lives depended on it. the ps2 days are over, that's why they only develop handheld games now. they're a dying breed

X-Zone5146d ago

LOL you must be so mad.

Can't develop an MMO, Phantasy Star Online just shit over your opinion.

Have fun with your Xbox360 and it's no games.

Do you not see this happening during development? Like, why are we apologizing after the fact instead of stopping it during development?

Stopac14h ago

Criticism and reflection occur after the fact. The apology acknowledges the past criticisms with the new expansion and they're keeping transparency with players about it. Now that they've acknowledged it - it will be interesting to see what kind of cycle we'll get with a new expansion and I wonder if they're planning something special with beast master since they didn't mention it in the last live letter.

anast20h ago

It's all good, as long as the price of the product decreases.

Stopac14h ago

The base game and expansion go on sale all the time and doesn't stay full price for very long since a new expansion is on the horizon.

If you're stating they should reduce the price of new expansions or the sub fee, no, that's not gonna happen lmao people aren't even complaining about that. They are criticizing the same old pattern of content that releases and how it is devolving into mediocracy.

"They are criticizing the same old pattern of content that releases and how it is devolving into mediocracy."

The product should be cheaper then.

I was unhappy with DT and have spent far less time in it than any other expansion but it's things like this that makes me respect Yoshi P. It's rare for such a high profile developer to be so candid in his assessment on a live game.

Stopac14h ago

Same, i've found my self resubbing every two patches instead of keeping it up. Don't own a home in the game so there's no point in keeping a constant sub going. The post story is getting interesting though.
