PS3Vault Review: Operation Flashpoint: Red River

PS3Vault writes: "There’s one chief reason why Activision’s Call of Duty franchise is as popular as global sales figures illustrate: the “I’m a badass” feeling, an adrenaline-based sensation of outright awesomeness that increasingly consumes today’s generation with every noob tube, quick-scope and killstreak. Consequently, the more tactical, intelligent first-person shooters get stuffed to the back of the drawer like a sweater that just isn’t ‘cool’ anymore.

But despite the fact that glorified, Hollywood-inspired IPs demanding little in the way of brainpower dominate the genre, there still exists a community of hardcore gamers ravenous for realism, challenge and cerebral stimulation. Codemasters recognises this, and the developer’s latest Operation Flashpoint title has been specifically designed to satisfy this niche market."

"hey, everyone, here's another boring shooter."

Kon5141d ago

Have you played the game? Don't think so.

Sidology5140d ago

7/10 = solid gameplay mechanics, enjoyable to a degree, maybe even some cool innovations
nothing groundbreaking, can get repetitive, only get it if you like this garbage

it's ok to swim in the red river. but don't drink from it.

Same Chief

Off Topic: John man I can't wait for your game!

Some mediocre - crap games there. Couldn't even include any Codemasters racing games? It's the only thing they're good at.

Canadiangamernet3980d ago

Including the Dirt series in the bundle would have been awesome but i wouldn't say they are crappy games. I liked Overlord 1 & 2 and both Operation Flashpoint are decent FPS the other one are so so for me.

guitarded773980d ago

Like I said... crappy to mediocre. I liked Overlord too. Didn't care for Operation Flashpoint. But eve liking Overlord, I have no illusions that it isn't a mediocre game.

AntsPai3980d ago

Even though it's still technically a good deal, the whole $5 or £4 thing annoys me. Humble bundle doesn't do this. No thanks.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River - The Shooter That Could Have Been The Greatest

Mobile & Apps: "One of the most underrated shooters of the previous generation was Operating Flashpoint: Red River for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. With all its problems, I believe this is a game that is worth playing, however, it is not too hard to see why the game didn't quite kick off, as it should have."

I liked it, didn't quite finish it though. Maybe I will now.

Loved this game, it was dumbed down from Dragon Rising but still an enjoyable game. Was still offputting to people looking for instant/non stop action

Ha! Some colleagues and I are actually planning on hitting this one up tonight. Great game.
