The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to have an “unlimited number of dragons”

Game director Todd Howard tells Norwegian magazine that there will be “an unlimited number of dragons” in the game. They’ll be dynamically generated, and will be able to attack you almost anywhere.

The interview can be found in full on the Bethesda forums. Here’s what he has to say about Skyrim’s enormous scaly beasts.

I think he said this last month as well, exciting though

Yeah, this was in the interview that's already been posted here twice.

We may have to wait for E3 to get any actually new info. Can't wait for some Skyrim gameplay!

Jack-H2795d ago

Wait! Are YOU telling me there are dragons in Skyrim?! ^_^ jp. E3 is going to rock man. Looking forward to this and Hitman the most personally.

Bluemaster772795d ago

Wouldn't this lessen the significance of the dragons if they just appeared rather frequently

RedDead2795d ago

There are random ones which appear every few hours or so, and preplaced ones that are stronger than the rest...I think, a bit like Oblivion gates the way they were everywhere, then the main man at the end

Bluemaster772795d ago

Well in that sense it could maintain the potency , but just as with oblivion the gates eventually lost their wow factor and just became a nuisance

Foxgod2795d ago (Edited 2795d ago )

Not in a war on dragons!
They keep attacking to destroy humanity.

There will probably be a number of towns that get laid in ashes.

Bluemaster772795d ago

Probable , but do you think the Dragons will cease after the main quest is completed

newhumanbreed2795d ago

I just want unique bosses that drop unique items. I doubt that will happen though.

Foxgod2795d ago (Edited 2795d ago )

That happened in past elder scrolls games, why would it not happen in this game?
I doubt that every boss in this game would be a dragon, they should be plenty of other mythical creatures to slay that drop good stuff that come in a limited amount only throughout the game.

In Morrowind you destroyed gods, and each of them dropped a cool unique item.
Such as swords, jewels, a werewolf ring, etch.

newhumanbreed2795d ago

It didn't happen that much in Oblivion. Every new Elder Scroll loses something that the previous one had.

Foxgod2795d ago

Well, Oblivion wasnt received as well as Morrowind, lets hope they listened to the fans.

SephireX2795d ago

Oblivion was received better than Morrowind. The average scores are higher.

Foxgod2795d ago (Edited 2795d ago )

It would make sense that during an all out war with dragons, that dragons would keep showing up until you defeat the final boss.

Kind of like how to train your dragon, the movie :)
That movie was so awesome :D

Foxgod2795d ago

Dragons are considered to be gods in fantasy themed games.
Dont compare dragons from western rpg's, to the dragons that you may see in japanese games and or animes.

While i like animes, the dragons in those series are quite lame.

earbus2795d ago (Edited 2795d ago )

All dragons are lame one mythology i cant get a handle on reminds me to much of princess stories give me sci fi anyday fantasy games and movies are just nails down the blackboard for me.If there is a dragon in a movie no watch in a game will never play just the idea is to kiddy.
