I have my doubts about Cell Shading
Actually it isn't a "real Cell Shading game" like we know them.
True, but it looks cartoony. I was hoping for a dark feel, crisp and next-gen.
Not me. Cell shading may not be the best looking but it gives a game it's own look. Like Borderlands or The legend of Zelda: Windwaker , those games just wouldn't be themselves without those graphics. I for one LOVE how this game looks so far. It gives the game its own look, and that's all that matters to me.
I thought the developer said it wasn't cell shaded?
I'd only say that was cell shaded in the loosest sense of the word, it has much more definition, more graduation to the colours/shadows, more depth etc.
that looks cooler than the first game.
Its not cell shaded...
Meh, new devs and a new graphics style. Not sure on Darkness 2. Will keep an eye and buy if it gets decent reception but for now, it stays off my must buy list.
Dull? You're shooting guys in the head while slashing limbs off and ripping spines out! How is that dull? Not every game has to be the "next Call of Duty" or have multiplayer or be innovative. Games can just be fun and make you feel like a powerful badass
Speaking of MP. I hope that they make the net code worth a damn. Being able to go from human to darkling was a great idea IMO. But, it was so full of lag I couldn't even play a 2v2 CTF game.
dont spam "next Call of Duty",this game looks just like any boring fps, give me something like portal 2 FP(S) with brain, humour and charm.Violence and boring "shooting in anything that moves" is overused ant stupid.
your opinion of other games can be applied to portal 2 aswell "oh well herp derp portal 2 is just going from one room to another shooting portals" Funny how that works isnt it?
Looks awesome. There's so much blood
Some how I imagine wii2 games looking like this..
What a fucking ridiculous way to debut gameplay, having it on a little screen next to some guy then occasionally flashing to two second long full screen clips. Also, that 'essence' thing sounds like a step backwards. Eating hearts may have been time consuming but it was also a cool way to get around the dated and arcadey practice of dead enemies dropping flashing energy bulbs and whatnot. Whenever I kill an enemy in a serious game (especially a FPS) and I see him replaced by a glowing energy orb it always takes me out of the experience a little. Other than that it's looking pretty damn good, I'm loving the gore and I actually quite like the semi-cel shading now I see it in action.
1:51 is that... NOLAN NORTH?
I rewatched the clip after reading your comment and I have to agree. That sounds like Nolan North.
The cell shading looks good. The game is based off of a comic so the artistic style does fit.
No it doesn't! if you want a comic book feel then read the freakin comic dammit, the first one was great because it had a gritty, dark, visceral feeling to it. Black lines around everything cheapens the sh!t out of it. HATE CELL SHADING! Prey 2 and now this bullsh!t. GIVE IT BACK TO STARBREEZE!
Wow... this is... Mortal Kombat gory. The gameplay looks incredibly fluid.
The cell shading looks fucking retarded. Like a mix between yes and no cell shading. Instant turn off for that game.
