L.A Noire Review | Gamepur

Gamepur: "L.A Noire is for all those gamers who are looking for a game that is rich and heavy on Story. In L.A Noire there are 21 main cases that gamers need to solve, all these cases have very deep storyline."

I approved it but there are quite a few spelling and grammar issues in the post, if it's your article i suggest you give it a read through. Stuff like capitalizing I in sentences etc

Solid review apart from that, can't wait for the game, stupid European release.

"...if it's your article i suggest you give it a read through."

You mean: "I suggest you give it a read through."

I'm not defending the poor grammar in this review, but it seems to me that everyone is the grammar police these days.

Meh, im not liking the game so far. I'm at the 3rd dahlia case. I dont like the mission progression. Mission ends and it immediately puts you to the next one. No exploring. No learning. No side whatevers. Nothing. There's 40 street crimes available plus location and newspaper hunting. Unlimited ammo and Superman's abiltity to take bullets to the face and body. Driving isnt a requirement since your partner can do it for you without hitting anything. It's almost impossible to kill any pedestrians.

You are not really required to get any of your questions answered to finish a mission. Even if you did poorly on your mission you still rank up to the next desk job. There is no consequences for actually managing to kill people or destroying property or slamming to another car. A lot of the building you can get into such as food places, hotels, school, hospitals, quarries, parks, etc are wasted space since there's nothing to do in them. Same pedestrians or street vendor or hotdog stand.

All cops back in the day were complete a-holes. Criime is easily solved. You can chase somebody but the option to fire the gun in the air is not optional but dependent on which mission you're playing. You cant use force to interrogate but other cops can. I still dont see the point of all the flashbacks for Phelps or the newspaper.

Bad physics on cars when you jump them on ramps. Some trash cans away from the sidewalk are immovable objects just like thin wooden fences or metal fences.

In building random movement issues in which the character moves himself towards the stairs, elevator, pipes, turn corners, etc.

The kid Jessica and the kid of the Moller family are the same person. They didnt even change her look, hair, or whatever appearance.

Random bottles, oxyclean boxes, cig buds, matches, etc litter crime scenes and houses conveniently but cant be found anywhere else. Lack of pedestrian variety or whatever.

Missions feel short and there isnt a good transition to the next mission... it just starts another aftet one ends.

Damn, good texture update from RDR and especially GTA4. Not worth my $65... im kinda disappointed.

I also wish they marked the map properly. It's not showing the subways and the other ways to get around the city. I didnt know about the subway till the street crime mission in which 3 robbers tried to rob a conviniece store only to get fended off by the clerk since he had a gun. The last guy runs underground but after you kill him, you're immediately teleportedabove ground. Sometimes i feel like im not in control of the game which was most of the time.

They shouldnt have made this game an open world if it was this scriptedly annoying.

Alot of nagging points there you could say about a lot of games.

One I dont agree with the most is the first one. I actually prefer the fact that it puts you into the next case, and the fact your partner can drive you places. One nagging issue I always had with GTA and Red Dead was the fact you were told "Drive all the way in the hell over here and when you are done drive all the way back" and in between you have to search the massive city for something to do. It gets boring fast. This keeps it up beat and you are constantly doing something throughout the game.

You don't rank up properly if you get your questions wrong. There are also cases where you could accuse people wrongly and they stop talking to you etc.. it does little things. However I agree I wish it had a bigger impact on the overall game.

Everything else develops throughout the game. There is litter, you just can't click on it outside of the crime scene. It gets repetitive with certain things, but look at how massive this city is and all the things they had to put into it. I rather have an assortment of cars, buildings, and environments at the expense of seeing duplicated bottles or people you don't talk to walking around.

But if you don't like it just take it back. I did that with Red Dead Redemption as it wasn't my thing, too much traveling and so on. LA Noire though...I cant stop playing.

Yeah, i'll be trading it back when the 40% more trade in coupon become viable next week at gamestop. The primary missions themselves can become engrossing but that's it. They gave us a big play ground but only one part of it was made interesting. I'll probably end up finishing the main cases before i trade it in giving me my money's worth then putting the trade in value for Infamous 2 which im hoping will have a ton of variety outside the main story line.

"The Playstation 3 version of L.A Noire is flawless, but Xbox 360 version of the game is plague by some graphical issue where the screen will tear or at times freeze for a few seconds. The frame rate also drops a lot on Xbox 360."

I played the PS3 version. The PS3 version is not flawless. There are AI problems and frame-rate drops. With that said, I haven't played the 360 version.

Hopefully McNamara is as far away from this as possible he set up shop in Australia then did nothing but complain about Australian labour laws while trying to make his workers live at the office working 24/7 on la noire punishing them for leaving at 3 am and being 10 minutes late to work at 9am the next day.

It's astonishing that none of the workers went to the fair work ombudsman as the studio would have been fined astronomical numbers

Brendan McNamara is a brilliant writer and director but he should never, ever be in charge of a studio. What he did to those devs was far beyond "crunch", and it went on for, what, 7 years? That's insane.

But I'm glad to see some of that team have come together again to create something new. A psychological thriller sounds right up my alley.

I would have liked to see a new noir game.
