Next firmware update to improve music playback -- but how?

better music streamin for me its very unstable significantly more unstable than xbox. Also the way the music files are arranged its not very convenient using it for music especially when u have a ton of songs. In game music will be a nice addition 2

I had those same problems in the beginning, I now use a streaming program called "TVersity" now i can stream for hours with no problem. It organizes slightly better too.

8 disagrees what a joke man. I had the same problem with my ps3 I couldn't stream anything, I have had luck with my 360 but I only get like 2,500 of my 4,200 songs.

Yeah i agree sonarus, at the moment, with a 1000 songs it is very hard to navigate, order and organise music and even find the song I want, I always seem to pass it.

Yeah, I'd like a feature where you can jump to a letter. Like if my songs are arranged by artist, and I want The Spice Girls, I can start spelling out "The Sp.." and jump right to it. (Jk about the Spice Girls part...yeah)

on my end. I've been using remote play to stream outside as well. No issues. So I'm not too certain what this is all about.

I do agree that sifting through a list of music is painful though.

I stream music,photos,and video to my PSP from my PS3 and stream music,photos,and video from my PC via media server.I do want in-game music access and well straight up in-game XMB for that matter.Better organization of music files would also be a plus.I'm sure Sony has a lot things coming our way Firmware wise.

@ above posts about organizing music, the best way is by album, and you can listen to music while you browse the web and find the album art if you want to make it even easier. but most of my music is albums, I dont really keep single songs from an artist, but if thats what you have then I understand why it must be pretty inconvenient, maybe make folders for them, and order them by genre. (to do this you would need to edit the info of each song with the album name being the new folder name)

one thing that I want is varying speeds for fast forwarding. right now there is just fast forward at one speed. movies can be 1.5x, 10x, 30x. neeeed to be able to seek in songs faster. then ingame xmb. that is all.

I would like to see a better browser, I actually enjoy surfing the internet on the PS3, but its very limited on what I can do, I cant even log into n4g lol....

With that said, it would be cool to surf the net and listen to music in the background. AAAAHHH the possibilities with the PS3. Its not perfect, but with a few more upgrades its will be getting close.

actually you can already browse the internet while playing music in the background. just hit the ps button while the song is playing then open the web browser. enjoy.

(also you are able to play a movie in the background while doing other things, I usually start an episode of heroes I have saved to run under everything while I am talking with friends and downloading demo's)

much except for getting wallpaper off of interfacelift.com (a pretty good wallpaper site, with various resolutions for each wallpaper for the most part). I got some cool 1080p wallpapers off that site for my ps3, and get 1920x1200 wallpapers for my pc.

the xmb interface on the psp and ps3 is good, but for music its just too inconvenient for me. Especially when i used my psp for music. I use my pc(and a good soundcard) for my music. Now i just need a zen for a music player.

I think it'd be great if we could organize playlists. And instead when i open up artist songs, it shouldnt give me every individual song, but also be organized by album. I hate having eveyr rush CD and Dream Theater CD on my PS3 and when im trying to find a particular song it takes forever. Also a search function by title or something would be really neat. LoL! Using the six-axis as a record... uhh... well let is mix the songs with the sixaxis... that would be grand xD. Also, a neat little mini-game as a visual player that strictly uses the sixaxis.. like some little racing game where you use the sixaxis.. iono it would be cool. I mostly would like playlists, in game custom music, a search function, ... omg VOICE COMMANDS!!!

That's most definitely true. But a voice recognition thing would be so effing badass its not even funny. Using the PSEYE kinda like a touch screen to pick out songs would be pretty sweet as well. I'm sure Sony could do something like this, but it would cost quite a bit of monies =X

Sony fixes the fact that I have to DISABLE Media Server Detection on my system because if it's ENABLED I get kicked off the PSNetwork. That would be a nice fix.

Try going into your wireless router and disabling upnp under the admin settings. I cant really say why this helps but I saw it on the net and tried it and I had no bad side effects. Now I can use mediaserver no prob and all still works like a charm. Hope this helps

The ability to create folders would be a nice addition...Also I don't know why people keep asking for XMB while in game...I see the point I guess but wouldn't it be better to disable the OS (kind of standby or hibernate) so it would give us an extra SPE from the cell? (I still don't know to this day WHY they shipped the PS3 with the 8th SPE disabled...

By only using 7 of the SPEs they were able to use more of the chips they produced. If there are any problems with any single one of the SPEs they can still use the chip in the PS3. They also sell CELLs commercially that have all the SPEs enabled.

I love the XMB, and it's very sleek, but it's organization stops at the top menus. Below that, and specifically in areas where the user deposits content, it falls on it's face. Custom folders and categories would be great.

Creating playlists on the fly, doing them on the computer then playing it on my ps3 is kinda inconvenient when I'm havin' a party!

More visualization thingies, purely 'cos I'm bored of the one that's there.

Maybe a search function, scrolling all the way down a list of 400+ albums to find one song gets a little bit annoying!
