Daav from takes his chance at glory in this open world where nations may rise and fall at your own discretion. There is a decent game to be found in Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword, with some unique traits, but the novel-based standalone from a Nobel Prize winner does suffer from several issues.

Sounds like a Rhapsody (of Fire) album.

The game is based on an 100+ year old book I think. The early game is very rigged against you with just about every bandit party having several muskets. Once you get a cash flow and buy armor you shouldn't have that much trouble if you use some tactics.

Yup, that's basically the view in the review as well, but good to see people agree.

and yes, it's based on the book with the same name. It's from a Nobel Prize winner, but he won it for Quo Vadis I believe and not this book.
