John Blakely, a nine-year veteran at Sony Online Entertainment, has left the company to join social games titan Zynga.
Wow. It's hit home. Sony will recoup. Edit: Oh okay. If he left for Zynga then that's good. Better opportunity. But I wonder if it had anything to do with the SOE breach.
i doubt this will affect sony much. people leave companies all the time and there's so much talent in the industry, now the fact that hes a 'Boss' automatically means he left because of the PSN debacle? please.. I doubt that its anything to do with it. hes a develpment manager so his job does not relate to the psn breach in any way really, this site is just going for hits from people who dont underdstand what his job is about.
This was back in April.
Be more money. Zynga made around a billion dollars last year in profit. He's simply going where the money is currently and probably time to move on 9 to 10 years is almost like a lifetime at a company now. Most people these days think your crazy if you stay at 1 company for longer than 5 years.
well this is a fubar! the last thing sony want to have at this moment is leaving experienced employees!
he left for the Facebook developer group zynga if im correct
yeah he did i wonder if it had to do with the PSN? or maybe he just wanted to join zynga who knows.
I highly doubt it. Sorting out the problems of the PSN could potentially be your job in Sony. There's no way they'd tell a 3D modeller to fix the PSN, for example. They'd ask those in the area of expertise.
He wouldn't leave for the PSN incident, he'd be working double shifts.
zynga zynga home home street street cola cola loooool
uh oh, this guys gettin out b4 all hell breaks loose
How is Zynga better? rofl
Probably gets paid just as much, if not more and, working half as much as he is now. Facebook games aren't that high-tech, yet, they are somehow, a mega cash cow.
"Facebook games aren't that high-tech, yet, they are somehow, a mega cash cow." If that's where the mass of the gaming industry is going to head, then honestly we were at the peak back in the 90s.
I don't even need to remind you of all the timeless (Playstation?) classics, but here's just a few of many words from the titles. Metal. Final. Resident. Grand. That's four of many!
The Grand Final Resident Metal!
The article says he left in April. Why is this just now being reported?
isnt it obvious?
The Hacker left Sony! Is that job position still open so I can apply!LoL!:)
Funny and sarcastic at the same time too bad those who disagreed with you couldn't understand it.
@radphil Easy with the commas there buddy. It reads like William Shatner acts.
i guess he just cracked under the pressure
Moves of this nature are months in the making... They don't just happen in a few weeks time. Trust me, Zynga had approached him a while ago and after a few meetings / interviews an offer was made to him. I am sure the entire breach situation made it much easier for him to say yes to Zynga though. Internal pressure and finger pointing had to have been crazy high at Sony over the past few weeks.
JUMP SHIP! we're going down!
I kinda feel sorry for the dude. I'm sure he didn't want this to happen. Everything has the potential to be hacked. Heck, the 360's LIVE can be hacked right now if there was a dedicated group of haters like the on on PSN's situation. No matter how good your security is, everything has the potential to be hacked, thats why companies have to go the extra mile to update security regularly.
I own a Ps3 and I don't give a crap if PSN comes back or not.
bs... he didnt "leave" his ass was fired..
and thats probably the end of SWG for those that are still playing it. Probably was one of the last devs working on it.
...and next up. "Sony and Zynga reach an exclusive partnership bringing Zynga games to Sony and the Playstation Network." "Sony counters Microsoft's acquisition of Skype with acquiring Zynga" and so on and so on and so on.....
Yeah same thing happened when Peter Moore (Thats his name?) from Microsoft left to go to EA Sports. "MS GETS MADDEN EXCLUSIVE????" and the bulk of the article "not in a million years, but why not fish for hits?" He is still great at bashing every other company and advertising his own product lol, I can't stand him sometimes but you have to respect how well he does his job.
