What does RTS stand for? Is it "Real Time Strategy?" If so, what does that mean?

ERMAC_3021d ago (Edited 3021d ago )

Yes, that's what it means

"Real-time strategy (RTS) is a sub-genre of strategy video game which does not progress incrementally in turns. In an RTS, as in other wargames, the participants position and maneuver units and structures under their control to secure areas of the map and/or destroy their opponents' assets."

In other words, it's a strategy game that isn't turn based. Real time means your doing everything at once or in "Real time". It's not you go, then he goes, etc like chess or checkers. Your moving your units, building structures as fast as you can at the same time your opponent is.

I'm sure there is a better definition. If you want to see what they look like, Starcraft, Warcraft, Total war games and Command and conquer are some examples to look at.

Think of it like... Civilization vs Starcraft (Starcraft = Real Time, Civilization= Turn Based).
