Preview: Dark Souls -Destructoid-

-Destructoid- As you might have read, Namco Bandai’s been murmuring a lot about Dark Souls lately. In the past few days, there have been a bunch of screenshots and a new trailer. In addition to the news coming from their annual Level Up press event, they also invited me, Max Scoville, star Destructoid reporter, to see some gameplay.

Demons souls was awesome, I cant wait for this game!

PhoenixDevil4730d ago

All looking good :D one difference is with the retrieval of souls, with demons souls you could always find your souls even if you fell into that pit, your bloodstain would be about 10 seconds from where you actually died

This preview makes it seem that the bloodstain/souls are exactly where you died so falling down a pit is now very bad news, still cant wait its going to be awesome

Oh, yeah that doesn't sound good... The bloodstain usually has like a 5 second time delay before you die. So other people can see how you died.

"this could be the kind of game that makes you cry like a little girl."
This line alone got me excited. I hope it's dramatically hard.

I can't wait for this game!

And and LOVE that this game is going to be even harder than Demon's Souls.

Only the real men and women are going to be able to get that juicy platinum.

i understand the authors frustration i'm not the best at parrying in games. not that i can't complete a game that requires it but it is a definite harder thing for me than other kinds of techniques in games. which might be the main reason it's so heavily added in games nowadays. want to make your game challenging without having to do a lot of work? just add a parry boss. (what i mean by parry boss is a boss you have to beat by parrying such that their attacks will kill you otherwise)

I always think it's fine as long as such games also have the roll/dodge panic button. But I understand the will to parry, it seems so cinematic in a fight when you pull it off.
