Fall seems so far away now

Hopefully, it'll be worth the wait.

I cant wait either but what does that have to do with this article? Comment first then read article later much?

gypsygib3022d ago

Your comment has nothing to do with the article either....incidentally, neither does mine.

Good. BF3 doing this should be a wakeup call to redundancy in games. Get over that garbage!

We have the tech and storage for non or at least much LESS redundancy.

I f*ckin' love assets!

@M4I0N3 - Potatoes are great as assets to beef and pork. Not so much for recording off-screen footage of Rage though. Everything has its limitations.

M4I0N33022d ago (Edited 3022d ago )

love assets and potatoes (other than the ones used as recording equipments) :)

*waits for greyfoxxx to make some contrary comment...

That's a number, I suppose, but without any context it doesn't mean much. How many unique assets would a comparable game have?

EDIT: oooo and he posts almost right at the same time, but says something positive for once. Seriously, have you posted in EVERY SINGLE ARTICLE today?

Pandamobile3022d ago (Edited 3022d ago )

For comparison purposes, TF2 has roughly 35,000 assets such as textures, models, sounds, sprites, etc

Portal 2 has ~30,000
Left 4 Dead 2 has ~48,000

Obviously this isn't directly comparable between different engines because they handle assets differently, but it's just to give you guys a sense of how many supplemental assets go into a game.

Cheers, gives us a better perspective. I suppose it doesn't mean much, but we won't know until we see the level of detail in real-time for ourselves.
