DasReviews writes: "According to a press release we got today, Red Panda Games will be releasing their latest adventure game earlier than expected and to be more precise, on June 1st. Curse of Slate Rock Manor is a visual novel adventure and focuses on exploring your environment and solving a mystery..."
"Visual novels are just one of many growing genres of gaming that have recently begun to capture of the interests of gamers today. Red Panda Games is a game company that is hoping to break into commercial gaming with their latest commercial project, Curse of Slate Rock Manor. Known for their previous game Bipo: The Mystery of the Red Panda, Red Panda Games promotes Curse of Slate Rock Manor as a mystery visual novel with puzzles (though the puzzles have yet to be included). After playing through the visual novel part of this particular game, I can safely say that I have solved the mystery of whether or not you should purchase this game."
Elizabeth Burnette of Vivid Gamer writes: "It can be hard for an independent developer to create a title that is popular enough to allow them to continue producing more. Red Panda Games, based in Seattle, made their first title Bipo: Mystery of the Red Panda two years ago. The RPG puzzle-adventure title proved to be fairly popular, and Red Panda Games is all set to release their latest title for a rather underrepresented genre. But have those two years between titles helped the company produce a worthwhile visual novel? I got my hands on the latest build of Curse of Slate Rock Manor and I think that whether the game is worth playing it isn’t much of a mystery."
I'm not the biggest point-and-click fan but since this is short, I may give it a try!
I like visual novels and point & clicks, but I don't know if I like the way this one is set up.
GameZebo - Curse of Slate Rock Manor is an upcoming visual novel with a couple of unique things going for it. Firstly, while many visual novels are dating sims, this one features a mystery theme with hundreds of choices to make as you investigate the disappearance of a friend.
I'm looking forward to this game. And I'm a sucker for games of this nature. They can be a lot of fun.
