Currently playing Just Cause 2. Tons of fun and one of the prettiest looking open world games. Well worth the £10 I bought it for.

Killzone 2 is pretty tough to beat and it's not even mentioned???

Alan wake received an honorable mention but the entire gameplay was built around the environment.

Far Cry 2 had fantastic real time weather cycles.

I haven't played motorstorm but the footage I've seen looks really good.

Resistance hasn't been released yet but the gameplay released so far looks like it will be at the top of many of these lists.

Gears Of war trenches map gives a peak of some of the great effects you can expect in the campaign when it releases as well.

I have to go by what I've actually played versus what's out there - or it wouldn't be MY Top 8. Of course there are a lot of games that should make this list that aren't on there.

A very obvious omission for a game I have played was S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat.
