Hector: Badge of Carnage released earlier this year as an iPhone exclusive title by Straandlooper Animation, and now Telltale has picked it up in order to publish it on a wider variety of platforms. It’s hit PC's this week and it has some great ideas, namely the art style and mature premise as well as some fairly good voice acting and dialog. Though the gameplay isn’t always exciting, the objectives aren’t always clearly laid out, which essentially breaks the flow of these games in an instant. If you can overcome these, then Hector is an enjoyable experience but it feels like it’s overshadowed by Telltale’s previous games.
Ryan from OnlySP writes:
"The Humble Indie Bundle is in full swing, already selling over 245,000 copies at the time of writing, however the company has also got a new Humble Weekly Sale which, this week, includes a selection of Telltale Games titles, including all 5 episodes of OnlySP’s 2012 Game Of The Year, The Walking Dead."
From Review: "Hector is my kind of detective. He's lazy, not very sharp and spends a good chunk of time in little more than his tighty-whities. And yet, time and time again, Hector is the best man for the job. He's the very definition of a lovable loser; the type of classic game character we used to see a lot of in adventure games of the 1980s and 90s. He's a breath of fresh air at a time when Telltale Games needs it the most."
IGN: Hold onto your hats. It's about to get a little freaky in here.
Weird? Catherine is my favorite game this year.
of course I don't speak for everyone though.
