As the world transformed into the cosmopolitan age of the early 2000s, The Sims franchise not only included gay characters but allowed for them to actively cohabit. This steadily grew into actively married, a decision that came quicker to gaming than it did to people in real life in certain areas. One of the first examples of intentionally gay characterisation in gaming was Enchanted Arms, a sub-par RPG that on its own merit was a little dull for most audiences due to some lacklustre random strategy turn-based battles."
