Neocrisis: Can The PS3 Survive The PSN Downtime?

Neocrisis: On April 20th the Playstation Network began experiencing issues, and soon went down all together. It’s been over a week since the downtime first began, and Sony hasn’t provided any information on when the service is expected to return and to make matters worse, they haven’t been forthcoming with information about what happened, and what effect it will have on their customers.

Of course they will survive. As long as they have a lot of great exclusive coming out for the system gamers will pay.

As long as AAA exclusives are coming out I will support the consoles, and I like to believe that most gamers feel the same.

the first few stories bringing the "what if" to the table has opened the flood gates for everyone to ask the SAME DAMN QUESTION!!!! I would just love people to just stop....and move on to simply playing games like we did before PSN was even launched.

Get back to the roots of gaming with local multiplayer or just a good game to play from start to finish. Do I know when this will be Does But we should just pick up the controller anyways instead of writing up these so called articles which are just that persons view of the situation.

Please for the love of everything that is holy and pure....

ok...i feel better for venting that. On topic, yes sony will survive. To think otherwise is short sighted. Game on people...and have fun doing it.

Theres something called Single Player. It's that thing at the main menu that you usually skip to play multiplayer instead

Yes, but expect console and game sales to slump in the immediate future for all sony gaming platforms.

The Sony name has been dragged across the worldwide media, and not for good reasons, but for criticism for VERY poor handling of this situation. I mean, they knew for almost an entire week that their consumers personal and financial information has been compromised. It just shows their utter indifference to their customers; how anyone can support that is beyond me

from the psblog:

" There’s a difference in timing between when we identified there was an intrusion and when we learned of consumers’ data being compromised. We learned there was an intrusion April 19th and subsequently shut the services down. We then brought in outside experts to help us learn how the intrusion occurred and to conduct an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the incident. It was necessary to conduct several days of forensic analysis, and it took our experts until yesterday to understand the scope of the breach. We then shared that information with our consumers and announced it publicly this afternoon. "

they didnt know until a few hours before their customers knew that there was a breech of personal information, but that doesnt get covered because that wouldnt get hits

same reason people supported MS through the disastrous RROD debacle......
