Wii PES hands-on: Mind-boggling footage

With every iteration of PES comes a slight tweak to the controls or the introduction of a new skill move, however PES 2008 on Wii, striding out of the dressing room Spring 2008, completely re-works the control system to fit the Wii-mote and Nun-chuck combination.

Where as FIFA has taken the individual route with its "Be a Pro" mode -where you control just one player on the pitch for the entire game - PES on Wii sees you taking control of the entire team, allowing you to send players on runs, break away after an attack or step up to employ the offside trap, all while controlling the player on the ball.

It sounds complicated and, well, it is. But at the recent Pro Evolution Soccer competition hosted by Konami in Seville, the developers assured us that "complicated combination play can be preformed by just using a combination of simple and basic controls."

Games Radar imagines it's like learning to ride a bike, once you get the basics down everything else will come naturally, or as natural as controlling tiny virtual men by waving a white wand around can be.

Check out the video below to see the game in action.

Hey, that's cool. An entirely new way to play the game, eh?

Now that we've seen how that works, howabout a strategy game?
