What the hell does 'Cafe' have to do with Wii 2.

Kurisu4806d ago

I read in another article that every Nintendo console has had a "Project Name". Project Dolphin, Project Reality, Project Revolution etc. Simple codenames.

GrieverSoul4806d ago

Japanese companies usually do that.
I remember something about Katana being the codename for the Dreamcast.

malamdra4806d ago

and Revolution was the codename for the Wii

badz1494806d ago

maybe this new console will be named Super Wii Two and in short..."SWiiT"! that would be funny! :-D

despair4806d ago (Edited 4806d ago )

it probably about not attracting attention, noone would link "project cafe" to a game system or maybe it makes coffee as well as plays games who knows.

GrieverSoul4806d ago

Well, "Wii" sure is suggestive.
Lets play with my wii-wii. hehehe

Deputydon4806d ago

Am I the only person that thinks if Wii 2 launches in 2012, and the next MS/Sony console launches in 2014 that two years apart would be a completely different generation of consoles all together? With the Wii 2 being an eight generation console, and the PS4/720 being a ninth generation console?

Technology improves so rapidly that two years later would make them a whole different beast.

matey4806d ago

No ur wrong Wii2 is said to be upgraded over time thats almost a fact so it starts with DX11 and u can upgrade it to DX12 simple but ill say this DX12 looks no better DX11 anyway plus SM 4.1 is on Wii2 and that needs immence power to run

Valk4805d ago

Thats not how console generations work. It isnt based on hardware. Just like How Genesis and Snes are from the same gen yet launched 2 years apart.
God there needs to be a site dedicated to educating people on how gaming works.

DeadlyFire4805d ago

NES 6 won't be called Wii anything. It will be a new box with a new name. Nintendo never puts a 2 in a console name. Come on now. It was NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii. Do you honestly think the next one is gonna have a 2 in it?

Price point this is prediciting is lower than I expect. I am expecting $350-500. If there really is some sort of powerhouse in this console. Price would have to back it up.

just like project 64 before they renamed it Nintendo 64

meganick4806d ago

It was actually codenamed project reality. Then they came up with the name Ultra 64, then changed it to Nintendo 64.

jimmins4806d ago

Could next-gen console war be 3-horse race?

metsgaming4806d ago

in terms of what? Sales? quality? Graphics?

SuperStrokey11234806d ago

Its n4g, so its anything we can mindlessly fight about.

kesvalk4806d ago

we? only the fanboys fight about sales while yelling "your console haz nogaems!"

eagle214806d ago

It most likely will have a new unique name that is in line with the new experience.

GrieverSoul4806d ago

Like Nintendo CS??!

Has in Controller with Screen. :)

nikola9874806d ago

Or Premuium NES :P AKA P-NES xD

showtimefolks4806d ago

what will be their new gimmicky or are they ready to just be a next-gen system with wii motion and use their IP's which are some of the best in gaming today to compete with ms and sony

Could care less. I use consoles to play games not for social media.

Cacabunga4d ago

Social garbage should be abandoned altogether.. the world is stupid since these things got introduced

senorfartcushion4d ago

I would say YouTube was more to blame for this weird unrest we are seeing at the minute. That platform has given license to some of the stupidest people to build advice channels for kids growing through their formative learning years. It's no wonder there are so many incels around.

z2g4d ago

The world was stupid before that. Social media just let you see it.

It’s for posting content like game captures, not responding to your boo’s pool pictures.

But F twitter anyway

CrashMania5d ago

And nothing of value was lost, that site is a cesspit.

purple1015d ago (Edited 5d ago )

correction, was a cesspit,

now more of just a swamp / everglades / marshland

gold_drake5d ago

not sure who actually used it in the first placd

Vithar4d ago

Good, Twitter is getting worst than 4chan

Great news it shows that Nintendo intends to continue developing ports of AAA games to its next gen platform

H926d ago

Buying studios from embracer now is a great deal, they must be dirt cheap at this point, Nintendo is a opportunist, they wait until someone fall so they get their best deal

OtterX26d ago

That is some serious brain gymnastics you have going on there. 🤔

H926d ago

I didn't do any gymnastics I can assure you, honestly I don't know why you think that, not hating I seriously don't see why you think that

ZeekQuattro26d ago

Yeah I don't know where that came from. It's rare for Nintendo to flat out aquire studios. Guess they were trying to be edgy but why flex on this studio. 🤣

Kneetos25d ago

At least they are safer from layoffs with Nintendo then any other company

banger8826d ago

I hope someone buys Piranha Bytes, their future isn't looking good right now. I love their RPGs, they're janky as f***, but they have heart and soul.

Relientk7726d ago

Nintendo saw the Mortal Kombat 1 Switch port and were like, "Yeah, these guys are worth acquiring."

You can't make this crap up lol

Profchaos26d ago

Mortal Kombat 1 was never going to port well I'm sure they told wb it wasn't going to work but wb wants that sweet sweet 140 million install base

In the end wb approved the project cleared the milestones and allowed the product to release

SonOfOsiris26d ago

Yeah this guys ported MK11 which is great, Hogwarts Legacy which is great, and MK1 is now ok, play it every day
