Retro Studios working on a "project everyone wants us to do" for Wii 2

From Paul Gale Network: "Retro Studios is hot off a four game win streak thanks to Donkey Kong Country Returns and the Metroid Prime trilogy, but according to them, what they’re working on for Wii’s successor is 'a project everyone wants us to do'...the modern equivelant to what Perfect Dark was to Goldeneye 007 on the Nintendo 64."

Can't wait for all the new stuff at E3!

DarkCharizard_5171d ago

I hope they do another project for Wii then do something for its successor in 2013!

E3exponews5171d ago

E3 will tell all and hopefully Retro will be a part of it because they are one talented company! Part of your statement to me is determined by WHEN Wii 2 comes out. Yes if it comes out in 2013 as you suggested then seeing a Retro game beforehand would be great. If Wii 2 comes out in 2011 or 2012 then I want all of their current efforts going into a next gen title.

DolfZigglers5171d ago

Nah bring whatever they got coming next for Wii 2!

fossilfern5171d ago

Lets hope they make a real starfox game thats to the standards of Starwing and Lylat Wars!!!!!!

I love Retro Studios and first did since Metroid Prime and that expectation and apprecition of quality grew up to Donkey Kong Country Retruns - a really great update to a classic. The way Retro made Metroid but going a more mature route with modern day+ graphics that Wii 2 would provide could be a game for Nintendo that "The Conduit" was but loads better. About them making Zelda!? That would be tight just keep in 3rd person.

Although it surely will never happen again (but never say never) I wand Nintendo, Retro or both to make a beautifully detailed hand-drawn Zelda game with a top down perspective like A Link to the Past for Wii 2, Project Cafe, Nintendo Next, etc.

Some would say it'd be a waste of all that polygon pushing power but imagine how nice it would look. Games down well with hand drawn animation don't lose their luster in years to come.

I love them too. I still cant get over the day I saw Metroid in 3D and just being sucked into the game like I was with Super Metroid. Very talented company and I hope its a new Starfox game! they havnt been good since Lylat Wars/Starfox 64

Gen0ne5171d ago

Please gaming Gods... Starfox. *weeps*

PygmelionHunter5171d ago

Im also guessing Starfox, Metroid Prime 4, F-Zero or they might even be in charge of Pikmin 3(Not very likely but whatever...). My expectations are just piercing through the skies right now. ^^

AWBrawler5171d ago

If it's not Starfox, it better be something awesome.

PygmelionHunter5171d ago

It's freaking Retro Studios, i would give them my money right away without even knowing what game it's gonna be.

AWBrawler5171d ago

point taken, Retro has never let me down

VampiricDragon_5171d ago

who wants another shooter? I dont see anyone clamering for that

drzmvp5545171d ago

Retro Studios produced one of my favorite trilogies of all time. The Metroid Prime Trilogy. Whatever they're making next must be epic!

Metroid Prime Dev "Let Down" As Original Credits Excluded From Remaster

Currently, the original developers are credited via a generic slate.

It's safe to say that it's the original developers who conceptualised and built these games in such a way that they're worthy of a remaster or remake today. Even if they had nothing to do with the new iteration, the dev team behind a remaster would be nowhere without the original vision – and so, the original dev team deserves a place in the credits of a remaster. That's exactly how former Retro studios engineer Zoid Kirsch feels.

Based on the work of the original development team.

That's pretty low..

Double_O_Revan854d ago

Depending on how long the credits are for the current team, I can see why it would be decided not to essentially double that.

Welshy854d ago (Edited 854d ago )

How long or short credits are is irrelevant. Every man or woman who put their time into the creation of anything (tv, movies, animation etc too) should have their names stamped on it, no excuses.

Noone realistically sits and reads every name and actually thanks them, but it's important to the people involved to have it there for what small validation or thanks it brings them. A little thing they can show their friends and family for years to come and feel proud to have contributed to. Kind of like seeing your face for 1 frame in the crowd on TV at a football match and having your own little stamp to show you were there.

Welshy854d ago

Without those original devs, there is no beloved game to remaster and put new names on. Disappointing Nintendo, do the right thing and patch it in.
