I'm all for user-generated content. First LBP, then ModNation, now Portal 2 and next inFamous 2 - give me more!

???

user generated content aka mods have been a staple at Valve since the 90's, and have been around since the dawn of pc gaming long before that...

Troll harder next time.

All those games you mentioned have strict limitations to what they can produce as far as user created content goes.

Going by your logic I can also list Trials HD, N+, Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts,
Forza 3, Halo 3, Halo Reach and Xbox Live Indie Games (including FortressCraft)
in that list.

TimmyShire5171d ago

Wow, sensitive much? I was hardly trolling - simply stated how much I want more user-generated content. Regardless of console, I don't care - I just love being able to mark my stamp on it.

Still interested to see how mod levels might be accessible on consoles - should be simple on PS3/Steam but will MS allow access to free content?

Philoctetes5172d ago

My copy will be arriving later today, and I'm also very interested to see if consoles will be able to able to play PC-generated user levels. That would be sweet. I'm hoping that at least these are available for PS3 users -- that should add all kinds of value to this game.

dead_eye5172d ago

From the interview that's link in the article it sounds like PS3 will get PC-generated user levels through steamworks. Sounds like Xbox might miss out till MS allow steamworks on their system.

Raoh5172d ago

I just hope they allow more user created mods to the ps3 from the pc like unreal tournament 3 did.

bestofthebest5165d ago

yea Im hoping that ps3 will be able to access mods from pc. If UT3 did why can't P2 do it especially since steamworks is integrated in the game.

There's user created content for every valve game, pc gamers expect it. Counter strike was originally a half-life mod.

Valve Makes Up for Steam Deck Repair Delay by Gifting Free Game

Valve gave a user Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for free as compensation for the long wait during their Steam Deck repair.

UltimateOwnage30d ago

I had a similar experience when I initially pre-ordered my Deck. There was an issue during shipping and they offered me a customer service perk for the hassle and let me pick any game on Steam. It was super nice of them. I got a copy of Rime.

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_9237d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil36d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
