I approve this article just for the lulz. Who are these knobs that take gaming on iPad/iPod/iPhone as a serious gaming platform. Do people actually sit around for hours gaming on these things? The only good these games are for is when you are waiting in a line or on a bus..something like that.

@plb - playing while waiting for a bus, plane, subway etc. is almost all the time most adults have today for gaming. I definitely can't afford to spend hours on ANY day gaming.

There is no reason to look down on that. iPads, iPods (and other mobile gaming solutions) give these people an option as far as gaming is concerned. Apple saw this opportunity and decided to also target that market.

You just have to accept the fact that many people out there consider something like an iDevice to be their primary gaming platform.

Whu? Please see attached image. Windows isn't at all a viable competitor at this moment and if anyone is saying it will dominate in 2015, it's not based on data but personal opinion/desire.

Android's strength is in both number of phones/devices utilizing the OS (all versions) and its Windows network security integration. Android has primarily taken away the RIM business, not iOS.

Apple is still the top manufacturer, with 32% of the market share for hardware sold with regards to smartphones. The iPhone is also still the most sold smartphone, taking in a massive 19% of the market share, the next being the Blackberry Curve at 5%.

Apple also has the highest connectivity rate due to their required connectivity plan. They sit at 80% of the market share for connected devices while Android sits at 17% (see attached image 2).

Apple are becoming a major player but not a particularly threatening one as they mostly target a different subset of the market. Personally I doubt they're going after the big boys currently.. They're playing a different game entirely. (though there is some overlap)

The overpriced apple jokes may (arguably) make some sense when applied to Macs.. Not so much when you're talking about the iPod touch..

Targeting a completely different and new market. I wouldn't even call it part of the games industry. Equivalent to saying Youtube is becoming a major player in the film industry.
