Official Xbox Magazine Gives Call Of Duty 4 10/10

The official Xbox 360 magazine (us) has given us the first magazine review for Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. Thankfully its a good one with a 10/10 score.

Obviously, no game is perfect because that would mean that everybody likes the game and there are no flaws whatsoever. This is simply impossible.

But why have a scoring system that goes to 10, when no game will ever accomplish that?! You would have to reduce the max score to an 8 or something which is ridiculous obviously.

I see remarks like yours come up frequently and I don't know why it's so hard to understand that giving a game a 10 is just purely symbolic, that's it!

I liked Crash and Overgrown pretty equally. But I agree, Vacant got pretty stale fast, since about the only tactic anyone used was to run around with a LMG holding down the trigger. Or maybe a turd that couldn't use bullets just using his two M203 nades to get 2 or 3 kills, then die.

Mass effect, Boishock, Uncharted and Ratchet all have the makings of Game of the Year. every ratchet game ever made up till deadlock on PS2 made Game of the year. and Bioshock to me was even better than halo 3. and even looks better. and mass effect prolly be nominated along with uncharted. as both those too games are being hyped way more than COD4. with that being said. be sure that it will be one of 4 aforementioned games i listed thatt will take home that prize.

In the moste tense moment in the game's best level (All Ghillied Up), all you can do is wait and pray. (It shows a pic of you prone with enemies 5-10 feet away)

I can sense the anger and tension in your writing, and I wish to relieve that. In Australia it costs a hell of a lot more than $50 dollars. $90 dollars I believe. I don't know, maybe your parents buy you everything and you have never had to budget your own money or whatever the case may be. A university student rarely has enough spare time and money to do anything, let alone gaming when he's making his own way.

So 'Power of Green', I would appreciate it if you would not judge others, though you may love your Live and think it is worth every penny you pay for it, I see a game, I see a service, I see one service for 90 dollars, and I see the same service for free, which service would you choose?

It's not that I have anything against Live, I've enjoyed it thoroughly, it's just as I've stated I have to cut down and try and save and invest money, rather than spend it all unnecessarily.

Now, 'Power of Green', I'd appreciate it if you would not judge me and my financial situation as a University student and I love gaming, so I will continue to invest in that, it's simply a service I can do without and replace in order to save and cut costs.

That is also why I never adopted WOW. Paying for the game and then paying again to play online. Then I feel cheated if I don't play a whole month or two.

its not 40 dollars here, its $90. Every little bit counts, a hundred dollars is a lot of money to me. After University it will be but petty pocket change, although until I get my degree and start working full time, I must save and do the best I can. I used live maybe 20 times during those 12 months. Although it may be worth it to some it wasn't for me. I'll be getting the ps3 version too. Although I rarely play online I do like to pop in once in a while and I don't want to pay for it.

I don't have to pay a dime to play Call of Duty 4 online, and so far I haven't experienced any lag in Motorstorm or Warhawk (despite the ridiculous number of players). Infinity Ward are credit to Video games industry for developing for PC, XBOX360 & PS3 version individually to its strengths. No Lead Platform used.

So the PS3 version will be better (marginally) and the XB360 version will most probably score a .1 or so higher because of bias... so nothing new really here but....

So many 10/10 scores? I mean - come on!!! We are at the start of this new generation and reviewers are overlooking all kinds of things to give Halo, Bioshock etc 10/10 reviews - which they get caught out on. But that poses the question:
Do we now assume that the ultimate has been reached for this gen already? I mean - is it not possible to exceed the standard set by Bioshock and Halo? Is this as good as it is going to get this gen? Or are the reviewers reviewing these games as if it is a PS2 game?

What if MGS4 or KZ2 or Drake blows these titles away? Will they be 10/10? Or are we going for 11/10 now?

I think the reviewers (some of them little fat 15 year olds who only likes FPS mouthing of as if they are some kind of special being) blew it. They set the bar so low, showed so much bias, became so unprofessional, that they did not just mess up their own reputations. By end of next year we will have to look back, take the best games by end of next year, give them an 8 score, and re-rate all games in comparison to them so that there is some differentiation in scores for the next 5 years. Otherwise we will see 50 games being vastly different in quality - yet all stuck in the 10/10 scores.

They were basing it I'm guessing off the pre released photo's from a few months ago which in the pics the ps3 version was ahead by 3 weeks in design so that's not them nor a true statement, but we'll all see for real at release.

However as usual, the Xbox 360 version will be a bit better, you'll see.

Normally I would agree with a comment like yours, or maybe argue that Oblivion and DIRT are better on the PS3, but after playing NBA 2K8 on both systems there is no debating it. NBA 2K8 runs better on the PS3. I'm not a fan of the game personally but all of my friends are and we have played the game at length on both. Without question it runs nearly flawless on the PS3 where there are some hiccups /stuttering and frame rate problems on the 360 version.

PDZ on 360 was 32 players with no lag at all. It's like with Halo, the game is designed around a set amount of players. 2 v 2 is great with halo, even though the game supports 16.

First off Infinity ward didnt say that it was just one reviewer and while your listing reveiws why dont you list the one that was on this very site, what was it 2 days ago that said both looked exactly the same(the pc looked better) which goes along with what the devs say. Now are both going to be idenicle no probably not and im sure when the screen shots come out there will be like a hundred posts with one side saying that theres is better or what have you when the truth is all in all they both will be exactly the same. What I hated about it was that the spawn points are terrible in this game, just as bad as COD 2's, I spawned so many times in the same air strike and I also spawned right infront of enemy fire way to many times.

And Host advantage is just terrible in this game, worse than Gears Of War.

Thgis game will eb a rental only for me unless if I see that changes have been made.

Stupid. By the 4th and 5th year there will be so many 10/10 scores that it will not make sense. Start with the best games end next year and give them 80%. Re-rate the games according to this otherwise there will be no differentiating between the hordes of 9.5 to 10/10 games that will be on the market. 10/10 should be the two or three games that overshadowed all in the generation. Halo won't be it. Bioshock won't be it. Don't rate the games against current PS2 titles. But hey - if they re-release the original Pacman for the XB360 that would most probably get 10/10 also.
