NGP Real-Time Tech Demo of Vision Game Engine

Packed with more features than a Swiss Army knife, Sony’s NGP plans on being the most powerful handheld gaming device on the market when it releases later this year – or early next. With the PSP’s successor believed to be able to play near-PS3 quality games, numerous engines are being tailored to suit the platform, including Sony’s own PhyreEngine 3.0. The folks over at Trinigy have now released a realtime video of their engine, the Vision Game Engine, running on the NGP.

we will see some good E3

damnyouretall2797d ago (Edited 2797d ago )

if it had a high framerate then i would accept visuals like this on the ngp. but we have seen better so far.

the NGP is easy to develop for. there are little worries about it being maxed out early on because it's currently the most powerful handheld ever and I can see that games are going to look better and better! I've never heard of Trinigy before but even they can make an engine running good on the NGP! Phyre, Unreal, vision game...I can see more will come over and NGP is set to be one hell of a gaming machine! DAY 1!

Can't wait to try this sucker out at E3. It's always so tempting to run off with one.

When you have something this gorgeous in your hands no one would blame you

This is DEFINITELY better than the current PSP tech and it's only a pre-release piece of software that isn't even out yet.

Give it a chance. I'm so sick of the N4G bashers that come out of the woodwork to bash on things.

Menech2797d ago

It looked sort of average for a tech demo to me, hardly any street movement. Next to no building textures and average character models.

Not that it's the NPG's fault it's clearly capable of alot more but that video was average at best.

Killzone3___2797d ago (Edited 2797d ago )

agree , but it can do better , just look at how mgs 4 running on it even though it's very short , kojima is making a game that work on the ps3 and the NGP by using the CLOUD feature , im sure of it , kojima loves portables..

this demo look just like counter srtike but smaller...

miyamoto2796d ago (Edited 2796d ago )

Looks like Sony is not joking with this one. One thing for sure This demo trumps anything on PS2 or Gamecube/Wii and most old multiplat games on the PS3 or 360 for that matter.

I'm sorry, I really wasn't impressed with this video and I will be buying an NGP day one, as I did with my PSP fat (which I play like hell to this day). Unreal Engine looks way better.

same here. maybe its because i didnt see the video in HD.

all the engines/games shown during that playstation meeting was better.

koehler832797d ago

It's not bad for pre-release middleware. If the price is low enough, I could see it being a means for a reasonable quality bar right from the word go.

We already know UE3 is also going to support the device. That will help mid-sized to larger devs set an even better precedent early on.

If the cost of entry is similar to UE, then I'd have to agree with ya, it's underwhelming. At least with that art. But keep in mind we're still talking about a handheld.

MagicAccent2797d ago

I wasn't very impressed at all either.
Until I remembered I was looking at an NGP video, not PS3 :P

darthawesome902797d ago

vid isn't mindblowing but it looks much better if you view it at 480p+ on youtube...much higher vid quality.

Not a bad engine for launch and as with all video game systems graphics will improve with time.

Meh, this video wasn't all that impressive. It looked better than the PSP for sure, but not by a whole lot. Should be a good engine to use for lower-budget titles.

Jio2797d ago

This is only a pre-release demo with vision game engine. You should see the Unreal Engine, and see the internal engines at use with Killzone, Uncharted, and Resistance running on the NGP. They look pretty close to PS3 quality
