This isn't even Socom anymore.

Oh lord, the veterans and all their bitching I'm sick of it, time to accept that the good old days are gone and it's time to move on.

Dude I have had this much fun playing a MP since COD 4 and UC2. I can't wait!

SOCOM 4 is a day 1 purchase no doubt!

Of course it's still Socom. The options are there to make it just as hardcore as it always was, but you know what? Most people won't play it that way. Respawn, regenerating health, the cover system... all can be turned off, though I think the cover system is great and something Socom should have had a long time ago.

Movement speed and overall weapon damage can be changed. Available weapons can be set for the room. The options this game has will make it possible to play as casual or hardcore as you want, which I think is a good thing, but most people will stick with respawn and regenerating health. Zipper has been very smart making this game the way they have, in my opinion.

I've been a fan of the series since day one of game one and I don't understand all the complaints. The one about the grenade arch really makes me laugh. That arch was hardly so accurate that it couldn't be removed or replaced. I remember having to put that line above or below a window to get the grenade to go through it, which means it comes down to practice, same as the current method.

The only valid complaints I can see are the absence of the lean function and the missing modes. To me the cover system makes the lean mostly useless, and is better overall. The game plays more like Rainbow 6 than Call of Duty, though you wouldn't know it by listening to the haters. As for modes, before playing the beta I was upset about Demolition and Extraction being gone. I still wish Extraction would return, but Bomb Squad is better than Demolition in my book. The worst thing I can say about the other modes is that they are somewhat similar to each other, with slight differences. I enjoyed them all though.

Zipper will most likely be bringing back at least some of the old maps as DLC, and I hope some of the old modes come along with them. I can't wait to see Abandoned again, but I hope Desert Glory, Blizzard, The Ruins, Crossroads, and others will show up, even though some of them are in Confrontation now.

I'm a Socom vet, and I can't wait for the 19th.

I hope they bring back some old maps. Abandoned is good, but there are so many maps I liked more in the Socom universe. Fishhook, Sujo, Sandstorm, Nightstalker Enowapi...pretty much every map in SII was good (didn't like Foxhunt tho)

I'm still getting this game day 1. Who the fuck cares what scores it get and what Socom vets say. Only my opinion counts.
