Bolton, founder of 8 Count dance studio in Dollard des Ormeaux, was hired by Ubisoft Montreal to choreograph the moves of Michael Jackson, for the Xbox 360 version of the dance game. When he met with them, he had no idea which game they were interviewing him for and he was hesitant.
“I wasn’t sure I wanted to get involved with consulting for a video game,” he said. “I am a huge video game fanatic but I had a lot of things coming up (on my schedule). I found out it was actually choreographing the moves, not consulting. I was in Los Angeles when I received the call that they wanted me and I found out the game was Michael Jackson: the Experience. I lost my mind.”
Bolton said the reason he got into dancing was because of Michael Jackson. His first performance was to the hit song Beat It when he was five. With the international release of the game set for April 14 — which happens to be his birthday — Bolton said it was all meant to happen.
