Edge: Islands Of Wakfu Review

Edge: When Islands of Wakfu opens with its heroine Nora – a cutesy, anime-looking warrior girl with hair the shade of cotton candy – waking from a nap in a grassy clearing, the spectre of apocalypse couldn’t possibly feel more remote. This initial frame offers a dramatic introduction to the game’s visuals, its most remarkable achievement, segueing from monochromatic sepia into impossibly vivid greens and reds. These shades look as rich as wet paint smeared fresh on the canvas. Though the game maintains its vibrant colour palette throughout, such serenity will be ruptured shortly by invaders hungry to mine the world for its precious natural resource, wakfu.
