Im such a big fan of the socom series, ive been playing since I was a weeee little boi, I just want to know if there will be any guns? Any aliens? And what exactly is a socom?

Nothing at all like Socom 2. If anything this game is a shell of MAG in 3rd person. This game plays nothing like the Socoms of old, its a cash in on the name in order to spur some buys from people who are not that tech saavy and will pick it up on the hope that it will be something it is not.
That's exactly what thought, it is just MAG in 3rd person, with less players obviously. It is nothing like SOCOM games of old. I downloaded it, played it once and deleted it. If you like SOCOM you will be very disappointed. If you like MAG, its basically just some 3rd person dlc for you.

Is the game 6 hours or so? How long is it?
I believe there are 12 single player missions, and I am not sure about the co-op missions though.I would guess 12 co-op.

What's the deal about no pistols? How did slant six build a more hardcore socom than zipper? What's is wrong with the gun sound effects? What happened to proxy chat? Why is the mic situation retarded? How come cover isn't fluid? Why is there no animation for removing a magazine out of the guns? Why couldn't you just make socom confrontation better instead of I don't know what the hell this game is or supposed to be. Basically? Why isn't socom... Socom? I can't believe I miss confrontation after this beta. I love MAG but this socom 4 is for the birds. R.I.P socom
dude im sorry but i disagree with 100%.If I can run full speed then dive bhind a box then pop into cover so I can take down 2 incoming enemys.I think tha cover is very fluid it all depends on what spot u pick to take cover. If they add pistol too clasxic modes that would work.But I dont see y pistols is so important.When u have only 10 bullets left and 3 ppl coming at u.Would u like to have a pistol or a sub machine situation?

no m14, no single shot weapons. SOCOM has been casualized.
There's an option when switching weapons from going full auto to semi auto. I've done this with P90 and few others.
you can change guns firing mode. Some have 2 or 3 round bursts, most have full-auto and single shot as well.
almost all assault rifles can be fired in semi automatic mode
Naw that's not really the point. I want guns that are tailored to have the punch of a M14 with the drawbacks of it's singleshot to balance it.
I heard about these stealth missions with the asian lady a while back and I'm curious to see how they're handled because the beta doesn't really seem "stealth-friendly". Also, I'm assuming you're already doing this, but i would like to know how many maps there are and how well balanced they are (especially the spawning which is a major issue in the beta).
well it doesnt seem stealthy because you are playing the crap standard game mode instead of the classic mode. Once you realize you have to wait for the round to be over to once you die, its real stealthy, real fast.
sorry but as a huge socom fan this does not look like a true sequel i was hoping for. many others feel the same way i do but many others don't which i will respect
thats because people are whining babies. The only real difference which needs to be rectified is the camera issues. The nade arc would be nice, but you can lean to use the tap method for throwing a nade.Haveing to actually aim in order to have an accurate shot is the only real difference. With old school vets wanted to just be able to run up to someone and shoot, instead of having to actually aim. I will agree about the issues with the not having lobbies, something I hope they do change. But that is not gameplay related.
i gotta respectfully disagree smokey. there are big problems with socom 4 in the beta stage that need to be fixed pronto- grenade arc needs to be PUT BACK IN the camera needs to fixed. and one of the biggest problems i have with the game- what the hell is up with the turn speed on the dual shock?!?!?!?! even at 100% up it is sssslllllloooowwwwww. i believe this has everything to do with move, however, it blows that they seem to have butchered the dualshock. it is damn near impossible to shoot a guy a few feet in front of you. fix the mic situation, especially in "classic mode" put lobbies back in, and yes they need to be there. this call of duty style they got going on is rediculous. and the last thing- this isn't a socom game. they basterdized this franchise to fit what they have said, zipper, to reach a broader audience. i feel like if they ignore MOST the communities complaints about this game, it will be a big fail for zipper and sony. keep in mind, that it is not only the "socom vets" complaining, unless for some reason every game i get into is all socom vets lol. instead of reaching that broader audience, so far they have ignored the fan base, which may result in lower sells for their game, which will be opposite of the goal they wanted to achieve.
Yeah we are voicing our opinions on a Socom game that is NOT a Socom game. We didnt want MAG in 3rd person, the majority wanted a Socom 2 feel with new maps/objectives/etc... not taking a sledgehammer to all the stuff that wasnt broke to change it because the casual crowd might buy it. I am all for change if it creates a better game, but you dont change a winning formula...and that is all that they have continued to do since the glory days. Halo plays like Halo, God of War 3 plays like God of War with imporvements, etc.... We see Socom in the title we expect a Socom game, not some fucked up frankenstein game to appeal to a few casuals. you dont like us bitching about it, dont read the posts and go back to playing the jacked up beta
I'm not a SOCOM vet by any means, I have merely dabbled with previous games, but even I can see that this is not SOCOM, its just MAG. Slant six did a better job than this.
Why did Zipper remove all the features that made earlier installments unique?
well said. zipper claims to wanted to appeal to a broader audience. that's their words/ reason. many, and i mean many are very pissed at socom 4 in it's current state. unless they fix the very big issues with this before or on release, i will not buy, i will rent for the campaign and co-op. developers need to learn what made their games great and what people enjoyed about them, and build on those principles for their sequels, not gut all those features out and expect to achieve more sells. in other words, they need to quit trying to re invent the wheel. they should have made this game called something else, instead of using a proven name to try to sell to people fooling them into thinking that this game is a "socom experience" me and others got burnt on confrontation, after the many, many, patches, i have to say it feels more like socom than whatever this is zipper is releasing. i just feel let down, i guess. maybe it's my fault. i really expected more from zipper, a proven developer in the past.
Confrontation IS a true socom game, it just has alot of technical problems. Idk what "socom" 4 is. I agree they should of released it under another names. The story mode isnt even about Navy Seals. I get mad just thinking about this game. Very sad that this is the first Socom game i wont be buying.
Do they plan on implementing any of the feedback they are getting. They should really try and give their old fans what they want and should listen to what others are saying about the regualer mode. There are alot of problems with the game but i can see it has alot of potential of being great, but only if they fix it up with the feedback people are giving them.
