Over 20% of Amazon.com 3DS reviews complain of 3DS headaches

Nintendo may be claiming that reports of 3DS headaches are based on just a few tweets or comments, but Maxconsole has sourced further evidence to suggest quite the contrary. Over 1/5 of all reviews on the 3DS Aqua Blue at Amazon.com (at the time of writing) mention some form of headache accruing from use of the 3DS. What's interesting is that these reports of headaches are coming from 'balanced reviews' and people are trying to find both the positives and negatives of the systems. One of the most excessive was this -"The 3D effect felt like they were tearing my eye balls in different directions."

Happens the first day using it, but not after that. Been blasting my 3D on full for awhile now :)

slate915202d ago

That's good to hear. It's probably just your eyes adjusting to it once. But after it everything gets used to it then Im sure you will be fine. I want to try it for myself

darthv725202d ago

kind of like first time you see an imax film. You know you will be there for 2hrs or so and your eyes will adjust.

Unless you wear contacts then you will have problems. Most people who wear corrective lenses or contacts had to either remove their glasses or pop out at least one of their contacts to watch the movie without to much strain. My wife is like that as was quite a few others when we went to see avatar.

As for this...it will probably take less time to adjust because of the ability to compensate the visuals through the slider. That is something you obviously cant do at imax. If it is to high, turn it down or off if you prefer.

Everyone has a different tolerance to such stuff.

captain-obvious5202d ago

i did try the 3DS for the first time of my life to day
and i have to say the moment that i turned on the 3D effect i felt like my eyes are a bet crossed

i turned it off right away after that and it was all nice and good

Thecraft19895202d ago

darthv72 I have no problems with Imax films or 3ds wearing contact lenses.

Fishy Fingers5202d ago

My friend at work said exactly the same thing. His eyes quickly got used to it.

Oh and this seems to be scrapping the barrel when it comes to sources for your articles.

wwm0nkey5202d ago

Yeah it is your eyes adjusting to it, also it leaves this weird effect on web pages for like 2 days where the text looks like its on a different layer, but that doesnt last too long lol

Either way loving my 3DS.

Also why haven't I seen an article about the 3DS having 128mb of ram yet?

Jio5202d ago

@wwm0nkey: lol, I thought I was the only one who thought the internet looked weird. Whenever I go on the internet I think the text looks like its on a different layer, and I see everything in 3D

darthv725202d ago (Edited 5202d ago )

that sounds cool to see. I have to get me one and try it out.

As for the memory...128mb is pretty generous in a nintendo system. That is system RAM for gameplay and not storage...right?

128mb is more than the wii. That is sweet, and you get a 2gb SD card for storage. Nice!

wwm0nkey5202d ago (Edited 5202d ago )

Actually the Ram is more than the Wii 96mb goes to games and 32mb goes to the OS. So this thing is more powerful than the Wii actually lol

Masterchef20075202d ago

Same thing happend to me after a one week 3D movie marathon.

As long as I stayed in the right position while playing with the 3D I felt fine. Once I move position in and out of the 3D my head and eyes felt weird.

Christopher5202d ago

I definitely think it's one of the items that takes getting used to. Specifically, I believe that users have to get used to keeping their focus on the 3D screen rather than going from looking at the screen and then at something else. Too much transition to and from 3D can cause a lot of eye strain.

This normally isn't a problem at the movies since the glasses reduce eye strain and the big screen maintains the major focus with much else to look at.

smash-brother-105202d ago

I've had no problems with it at all, playing it 2/3 hours straight on launch day with the slider 3 quarters of the way up gave me no problems whatsoever

badboy8085202d ago

I love that picture. He should use that hammer on the 3DS.

Emilio_Estevez5202d ago

A lot higher then I expected....Was thinking maybe like 5% at most.

nikola9875202d ago

10% of people in world can't see 3D, so do the math :P

Emilio_Estevez5202d ago

ummmmmm, yeah, if they can't see 3d then I doubt they are complaining abouth headaches from it. Your math is wrong sir. So 30% will have a problem with 3ds then I take it.

Rrobba5202d ago

I have hardly experienced anything bad...I don't know what these guys are complaining about.

Jio5202d ago

My head doesn't hurt at all. Yesterday I think I played for an entire hour on full 3D

The 'Stop Killing Games' initiative is close to its final deadline

Ross Scott—also known as Accursed Farms on YouTube—has been fighting tooth and nail for almost a full year to help spearhead game preservation. Starting after it was announced that Ubisoft's The Crew would be shutting down, permanently ending support for the game, Scott launched the "Stop Killing Games" initiative.

That makes a twofold deadline for the Stop Killing Games initiative. Or, at least, one headed up by Scott: The UK petition, which ends July 14, and the EU Citizens' Initiative, which ends July 3.

M3talDiamond2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

If you live in the EU then Please sign this or our game ownership rights and game preservation is
at stake. I know there isnt much time left but please consider signing the petition

-Foxtrot1d 12h ago

I never knew Ross Scott was doing this

I love Freemans Mind

People whine and in the end don't do a thing. Then whine more when they get screwed some more smh. If this makes it then it'll be monumental for consumers. That Pirate software guy was no help either smh.

The EU Date is the 31st July not the 3rd

darthv722d ago

Well its MS news... those are usually pretty dry, unless it has something to do with another game being ported to PS. then its top of the pops.

Oh look no further than the "Upcoming layoffs at MS" topic. It will easily top the Hottest of the week.

Special guests like Mr. Dead might also show up. You just watch.

Bizarre & Forgotten Final Fantasy Games

Just like you don’t ask a woman her age, you don’t ask a Final Fantasy fan how many games there are in total.

I don't quiet get who it's directed at. General player? Sure, I can believe them not knowing some of the less popular final fantasy games. But final fantasy FANS? There is nothing forgotten about these games.
