Auto aiming removed from Crysis 2

From PGN: "If you’re a PC gamer and haven’t tried out Crysis 2 yet because of some of the problems that people have been experiencing, then know now that Crytek has put in some very important updates…arguable the best being the removal of auto aiming."

Was this not from the day one patch?

MikamiFanForLife2983d ago

This isn't also for Xbox 360 and PS3 versions is it?

Pandamobile2983d ago

No, they wouldn't remove auto aim from the console versions. How else are they expected to aim without the assistance of an aimbot?

Hahaha don't be silly

DolfZigglers2983d ago

No, they're just talking about the PC build. The article itself mentions that there are a few other things fixed. I'm just thankful for a good anti-cheating least as good as a company can make.

If you need aimbot on a console, you just suck at life. I can aim just fine with analog sticks, and any time a game lets me turn off auto-aim, I always do it. This myth is mostly created by PC Elitists too afraid to admit they suck balls with a gamepad, because they never took the time to simply learn how to use one.

I'm not saying analog sticks beat out a mouse, because that'd be retarded. I still play some FPS on PC, but only because it's PC exclusive. If the PS3 version of the game has no option to disable auto-aim, they can keep it.

Is this just for PC version?

eggbert2983d ago

yes, the vast majority of console shooters employ auto-aim because of the inaccuracy of analog sticks.

Miths2983d ago (Edited 2983d ago )

I just bought the PC version of Crysis 2 on Steam a few hours ago, and I almost can't believe how ridiculously difficult it is for me to hit what I try to aim at - both in singleplayer and the two multiplayer matches I've tried so far (where I managed to score a combined grand total of... zero kills :)).

I've been a PC gamer since the early 90s - only turning part time console gamer a few years ago - and spend around 6+ hours a day in front of a PC, so it's not like I'm not used to mouse and keyboard.
I've never really played shooters on PC though - aside from a few sporadic and very short lived attempts over the years - and clearly that requires a whole different level of mouse dexterity and precision than playing RPGs or navigating desktop applications :).

Why does auto-aim even exist?

DirtyLary2983d ago

Because consoles controls are analog. So they have a huge deadzone. PC mouse and keyboard are digital so you can be pinpoint accurate, can't do that on consoles.

Pjuice2983d ago

consoles became the mainstream gaming machine so devs had to figure out how to make fps play better with analog sticks and they have tons of scripts to help the controller aim better not just auto aim, they also use magnetism, snapping, acceleration and friction to help a controller aim better because its so slow and inaccurate
