Does Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Require "High Level" Skill?

Isaiah Taylor from the ITBrog.com writes: "After watching Dieminion and Zade's comments on the cheapness of Wolverine, Phoenix and Sentinel. I have to question both the knee-jerk reactions of veteran players and also the mechanics of Marvel vs. Capcom 3"

Not particularly. It requires skill. But the skill cap is limited. Where as say in Street Fighter, if you're a noob, you can only get so far until someone who's genuinely good at the game comes and rapes you. Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is really fun but its broken beyond belief. You don't have to be 'good' to be sucessful in really ruined the experience when all I ever see is Sentinels, Ryu's, Akuma's and Dantes.

As I say though, the games great. Just nothing I can see myself taking seriously due to the noob culture it caters to.

Totally agree. Most people who are at high levels pick nothing but those characters, who are easy to spam moves with. Now some say, well in Marvel VS Capcom 2, it was the same with people like Cable, Sentinel and Magneto, etc. While that is somewhat true, the difference was that it took skill to play with Sentinel in that game effectively. In this one its just mashing and spamming. If I want to do that I'll go play hungry hungry hippos. Once I got my platinum trophy, I stopped playing it, will only play casually with friends now. It's definitely a step back from its predecessor.

...MvC3 is fun sure but it takes a ton more skill for say Street Fighter 4 then MvC3.

I think it depends on how deep the player looks into it. If they are learning tactics to win then no since spamming is easy to do.

If you take time to make a well balanced team each with different abilities and strengths then it is a different story.

It really doesn't take much skills but i just suck at MvC3 or fighting games in general.
My friend is a natural though and he hasn't played a fighting game in years and he found it too easy compared to MvC1/2

New IP, please. Used to be (in the 80s) if it was a Capcom game, you knew it was good.

jznrpg1d 5h ago

Pragmata is a new IP so there’s that. Another one would be nice though

Honestly Capcom is still somewhat of a seal of quality for me.

Trust me I’m a Capcom baby. Got fond memories of Megaman and all the good library they had on snes 😂 . I always felt bummed Capcom shunned Megaman tho ever since inafune left the company . Pragmata seems like it’s a new Megaman sort of
