This is why this industry has slow releases and none compelling games.
Why would anyone willingly work in the VG industry or specifically for one of these globocorp organizations that put you in constant fear of losing your livelihood based on terrible choices made by idiotic management, not the people with talent making the actual games?
I would strongly recommend people get Warcraft 3 if they havent played it already. its about 9 years old now, though still one of the best RTS games out there. The story is simply epic. If you like the medievil setting, warcraft 3 is a legend. Any laptop can play it today, since the game isnt demanding at all. Those thinking to get into RTS i would recommend they pick this up.
In case you are wondering about the MP, theres still about 50,000 - 100,000 people playing the game online depending on time, so MP is still very active. Also there are various mods available for the game to extend gameplay time even further.
start with starcraft and move to Warcraft III then Play Command and Conquer games and then.. and then.. Total War games.. UUUggghh so fun..
Stonkers 1983 ZX Spectrum Home Computer was the first RTS made but it constantly crashed.
The Ancient Art of War 1984 Apple/DOS the first RTS that was fully playable.
Herzog Zwei 1989 Sega Genesis and Dune II 1992 DOS/Sega Genesis are two games that pretty much laid the format for the modern day RTS games.
Warcraft: Orcs & Humans 1994 MS-DOS MAC-OS, Most don't realize WOW started as a RTS with 4 games in the series before turning MMO
Total Annihilation 1997 PC/MAC and Starcraft 1998 PC Mac N64 became the two true benchmarks of RTS games from then on out.
Command & Conquer, Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, Total War, Age of empires, Rise of Nations are a few of the other highly acclaimed and successful titles in the genre.
Maybe I need to quit trying to get into to the strategy games through Turn Based, Warcraft sounds more fun than Civilization. Going to have to give RTS a try.
Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings.
Still my all time favorite.
