Games Minister Margaret Hodge to Speak at ELSPA AGM

From GamesIndustryBiz: Margaret Hodge, the Minister of State for Culture, Media & Sport has been invited to give a speech at this year's ELSPA (the Entertainment & Leisure Software Publishers Association) AGM.

ELSPA will host a members' forum to discuss how to help children and parents get the best from new technologies, while protecting them from harmful images. The forum will also address the rise of negative publicity in the games industry. Several political and social studies have cited computer games as having a potentially negative influence on young gamers such as addiction, obesity, truancy and crime. I don't know about anybody else, but the government "recognising" anything too much gives me a nervous twitch.
