Disaster Report 4 Cancelled

Andriasang: Many expected a delay in Disaster Report 4's release following Friday's Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. Irem went a bit further than that: it cancelled the game.

Yeah I was expecting as much.

While understandable, this is a pity.

Hopefully it doesn't stay cancelled but eventually gets release sometime in the future (not this year of course). Seems like a lot of hard work went into the game, taking into account previous preview builds).

Terrible what happened in Japan: natural disasters are never great.

agreed.I'm sure this game might come back when the people of Japan are able to move on.RIP to all who have lost their lives in these troubling events.

-Make it a drama
-Recreate events in Japan
-Show their people what you can do in these situations
-Market as educational tool
-Donate a portion of their funds towards relief

So did they cancel the game *because* of recent events? Hopefully not. I would be VERY disappointed in them if that was the case.

Why else do you think the game was cancelled?

anyways like I said, hopefully its more a postponement rather then a straight out cancellation but this move makes sense considering recent events in Japan.

patapon4792d ago

I just found out that the game would've released a day after the earthquake. I though it was still being developed so there might have been 'other' reasons.

And I hope it is just a postpone. Wouldn't make sense not to release it at some point.

Though I agree that throwing out all that hard work and money would be a mistake, and they should bring it out later on down the road, you have to commend them for their ethics. If it really is canceled, then good on Irem for putting their respect and humanity first, before money.

The main buyer for those disaster games is still japan . It wouldnt be marketable at all over there , not so soon .

Disaster report 4? Never knew they made a 2 or 3...

The first game was awesome! :D

Surfaced4792d ago

DR2 was called "Raw Danger" here in the states.

DR3 was for PSP and was never localized.

RockmanII74792d ago

Is this that game that had that reveal trailer of like a Lion in a city? I haven't even heard of this game since then if so.

DangerTick4792d ago

They should just make it for NA & EU then. Fuck nature!

Disaster Report 4 might be technically lacking in a lot of areas, but it is stuffed full of heart.

A great game hope its successful enough to warrant a sequel, I also wouldn't mind that natural disaster game made by the same director game that involved classic Japanese super heroes and monsters translated for the West.

Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories Review (TheSixthAxis)

TSA writes: "Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories has faced a lot of bad luck on its decade-long path to release. Initially in development back in 2010 for the PlayStation 3, the survival game set during the aftermath of a massive earthquake in Japan was set to release on March 10 of 2011. The game was already delayed from that date when the massive Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami occurred in Japan on March 11; Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories was outright canceled just a few days later."

This game is actually great, it’s a great B level game that I missed sorely during the PS2 days. It’s definitely worth a shot if you ever Played the first two on PS2 or enjoy niche games outside of the AAA and indie space.

William says: "While Disaster Report 4 is a very stiff and jerky game, it is at least entertaining. Just don't try to play it twice."
