Activision recently killed off Guitar Hero and more while doubling down on its major successes - Call of Duty and Blizzard titles. This is somewhat alarming since it certainly narrows the company's portfolio, but one analyst sees the big bet on Call of Duty paying off, to the point where revenue per user may double.
Activision has published a new patent that wants to create NPCs capable of reacting with AI-generated audio and animations in games.
Have people forgotten that the 'A' in 'AI' stands for ARTIFICIAL? As in not real, as in the opposite of realism? AI-Generated content is the opposite of realism.
Microsoft and Activision have announced a AA-focused splinter team, making Tango Gameworks' closure baffling.
Yea let’s shut down a AA studio that just put out a great game and open another AA studio out of nowhere. I swear Microsoft never make any sense.
Microsoft constantly talks about creating new studios but most of their titles end up coming from studios they just threw money at 🤷♂️
Remember when they hyped The Initiative as their Naughty Dog? It's been 6 years and we've seen a trailer....
Bottom line is the Xbox part of Microsoft is in a helluva mess. The pivots are snapping ankles.
Obviously the team that remained after so many left didn't meet the needs of MSFT. A new team is not unusual for new projects. Some of the old team moved on internally and we do not know where they all went. The resources elsewhere that were freed up could likely have even been a part what spun up this new studio. Resources move. Just not in Tango Austin anymore.
Employees from King and other parts of Activision have formed a new team within the Blizzard umbrella.
HELL YEAH!!!
According to rumors, Playground just formed its third studio and Obsidian is already working on it´s third unannounced upcoming game!
Just bring the games!
Wouldn't surprise me given how crazy the money gets with CoD
A good laid out subscription service, probably would work with the COD community.
If Activision will try it, and it works, probably others will consider the possibility too.
They can easily do good if they stop screwing around and start putting in effort again. I got blops and traded it in b/c it sucked... But id give it another chance eventually...
But id get BF3 before another call of duty thats for sure.
call of duty has always sucked ass. Battlefield has always been better, and finally battlefield 3 is starting to get the attention it deserves.
isnt activision opening a studio dedicated to only making dlc map packs? i thought i read something like that, could be wrong. yah but i mean first day buyers of the game and dlc pay 100 now, so double or triple the amount of map packs for sale and thats a fair guarantee of securing close to 200 dollars per game.
