What now for PGR4? Gameplayer examines the fallout from the Activision announcement regarding the purchase of developer Bizarre Creations, just prior to the on-sale of their highly anticipated racer. They suggest that Microsoft may now face an uphill battle marketing the game.
"Either way, the timing of this announcement couldn't be worse for PGR4. The game is getting respectable review scores and it certainly has a solid fan base, but we've suddenly found ourselves wondering some key questions. Who will manage community and server support into the future? Will the game receive quality downloadable content through its lifetime? Can we expect bugs and glitches to be ironed out with patches?"
Luke Plunkett of Kotaku writes, "I think we all took the Xbox 360 for granted. Other all-time greats like the SNES and PS2 seem to be remembered more fondly than Microsoft’s console, which tends to be recalled as more of a thing that happened than a platform to be treasured."
A Kotaku writer pining for Xbox's golden years. I'm guessing there will be some good comments here.
“WE”didn’t take it for granted, M$ did.
What happened prior to launch of the One up through current day with their marketing and focus away from games and consumers. The failure of the One has nothing to do with the 360 being great. In fact backward compatibility and the 360 is about all the One had/has going for it. Now M$ is dumping money into fornite articles to try and be seen as more than they are, a company that doesn’t give a damn about its fan boys or products.
Microsoft’s Xbox Division head honcho Phil Spencer is always quite open to conversations with the fans on social media, and today he went on one of his usual Twitter sprees, talking about quite a few interesting topics.
Sunset Overdrive was so fun, unlike any game I've seen in a while. Felt kinda fresh to see something unique. Hope it sold well, it deserved to, would love to have a sequel, maybe multi-platform this time so our PS brethren could share the love too.
Insomniac didn't release it on PS4 because Sony wanted to own the IP, so they went to Microsoft instead. However, now that the first game is released, Sony can't own the IP anymore, so if they want, they're free to release the sequel on PS4 or even port the first one too.
That's not as decisive on a Sunset Overdrive sequel as I'd like ... sign it up, Phil!
Microtransactions in Tomb Raider really turned me off.. I dont understand why devs shove that BS into everything these days.. First it was DLC here and there and now DLC, season passes, and micro transactions for every damn thing.. Im not getting XB1 this season i guess.. Halo has that BS too so your looking at close to $100+ for a single game with all its content.. Screw that
“PGR3 is a unique, next generation-racing experience where you can design your own tracks, drive any car any time, star on Gotham TV and much more“. Whilst the back of the box might make it sound like a Batman-inspired racing game, Project Gotham Racing 3 is in fact an arcade racer which was part of the Xbox 360 launch lineup back in 2005.
Loved Gotham 3 and 4 they showed more innovation than most racers do today , great looking ,great soundtrack and i was gutted when bizzare creations went under.
but this game will be fine. Im sure MS will make sure it has all the online surport it will need atleast this time around.
all you 360ppl will be very happy to buy this game and race online.
My buddy is a huge fan and i plan on spending some time over there when he gets this game!
640 Resolution!
Not if it doesn't go Head to Head with the Racing King. It'll be just fine. :P
The year, the battle of best racing will be between PGR4, Forza 2. Sad that Burnout Paradise missed it. It won the best racing of E3 award and could have done the same as for the racing of the year.
With Burnout gone, I believe PGR4 is the true winner because frankly, I think it's the best non-Burnout racing available.
im sure theres a decent fan base that will stay loyal to it. personally tho i believe if your really looking for a racing game, its gotta be gran turismo, as long as PGR comes out way before that it'll do fine.
