Ars Technica: Hands-on with the Mortal Kombat arcade stick

AT: I'm a fan of arcade sticks, so when I had the chance to play the latest Mortal Kombat game with a brand new arcade-style accessory I headed over to the St. Regis hotel to see what all the fuss was about. What I saw took my breath away: the stick wasn't tipped with a ball as is popular with Japanese-style arcade games, it was a bat-style top.

I don't really get the idea of those "dedicated" arcade sticks. I've bought years ago X-Arcade dual awesomeness and works with PS2, PS3, Xbox360 and PC(no drivers needed).
And it's solid. Literally as arcade machine panel, with lifetime warranty. As an oldschool arcade dweller, I love it.

I'm not affiliated with them, I just think there's no better arcade stick on the market.

Is this better than a controller? Or is it just to give you an arcade feel when you play the game?
