IncGamers writes that, 41.6 million PS3's sold equates to "1.7 PSN accounts per PS3 and 2.1 accounts for every console connected to the internet."
PSN =/= PS3 41.6m = number of connected consoles
didn't take to long for one of these to pop up. I'm just gonna wait for more information on this from Sony, the slide should have been enough if people read it right, but who knows. And they should also realize that PSN=/=PS3 but PSN=PC,PS3, and PSP which also needs clarifaction, whether that 70 million means just for PS3 or all platforms that has PSN access. also i'm a bit dumb here, but what exactly do they mean by 1.7 PSN account per PS3 and 2.1 for every console connected online? I mean if the PS3 has a PSN account doesn't that mean its connected online then?? also what do they mean by 1.7 per PS3?? i see that like someone has 1 account and then they have an incomplete account or something??? ISn't it suppose to be a whole number???
They are probably dividing the number of PSN-accounts with the number of ps3's out there to get an average :)
It's just to get an average. With that said, I thought it would be higher considering the multiple accounts?
I personally have 4 accounts on 1 ps3. Main, japan, Europe, and one for my brother.
41.6 million "sold" with 80% of the 41.6 million connected and 70 million accounts made. http://n4g.com/comments/rel...
Dude, its been confirmed that the slide was only showing Q2 data. Grow the fuck up.
Tinasumsum: you sound scared.
lol i knew someone was gonna post this. It's been confirmed that they are Q2 numbers
Should i listen to some official company who answers to stockholders and are held to the law or some random fanboy on the internet.. hard choice.
I hope people realize that the PSP also uses a PSN account so not every PSN account out there are only applicable to the PS3.
I have 2.8 PSN accounts on my PS3.
My PS3 has two accounts. One For Me and One For My Brother. Its great that we can both have accounts on the same console, both play online, no need to have one account to go online because all PSN accounts can play online free on my 360, because live is not attached to a console, the account with live is the only account that has access to go online, I hate that if my brother want to play online on his 360 account he can only do so if he buys Live. And theres no way he is playing in my account, lol
get a family plan for $99 a year and have up to 4 accounts cheapskate
Yeah, spend more money for the same thing.
Pirate Tom- PSN and Live are hardly the same thing. Live is much more refined and worth paying for. The old saying goes, you get what you pay for.
...or maybe some people own PSPs and not PS3s? There are 65M PSPs in consumer hands. Article == totally uninformed.
I have 3 psn accounts, Europe, Usa and Japan. Including the PSP i'm actually surprised it's not higher than 1.7
Im officially a "1 and a 7/10th man". Thats my new show. Im gonna be so much better than Charlie Sheen :D
I have made about 50 PSN accounts and 50 Xbox live gamertags. I have a problem I know, but now I use only one.
Microsoft tell consumers lies, Sony tell consumers lies.... But i'd prefer to be hoodwinked by Sony as justified by their awesome line up of exclusives. MS lie to their users and give them nothing but hand motion hardware (presumably to give them the finger).
This could be true, but they need to think about other people who own a PS3 as a household device as well, and vice versa. A family of say 4 people could own one PS3 and each one of them would have their own account. The opposite can happen as well, where you have one person owning more than 2 accounts, for different regions. Let's not forget those people who might have created accounts but never or rarely use them due to issues like forgotten password, not their preferred account etc. Take all this into account and consider also that some of these PS3s will be connected to the internet, some will connect once and some will always be connected.
I personally have 10 PSN accounts.....
Not sure if anyone covered it, but there are PSP's that connect to the Playstation Network. So the PSN accounts number doesn't only apply to PS3 Which is addressed in the article, and its probably the case that those numbers do include PSP's as well.
