Crytek cracks open its next-gen engine and real-time toolbox!
next-gen engine without DX11? lol should I add.
CryEngine 3 has DX11. Crysis 2 doesn't have it fully implemented, yet. As usual, I'm impressed by the video. I'm glad that artists can have such precice control over how the end product looks. Having it update in front of their eyes in real-time must be incredibly useful. I'm glad there are engines (this, Frostbite 2.0, Unreal's future updates, whatever Witcher 2 uses, etc) that are pushing PC hardware to the limits.
True, but crysis 2 was supposed to be the CE3's showcase, and it'sz far from it. I would have really liked to have DX11.
You're not alone. I'm also disappointed that it won't have DX11 support on release. Oh well, I'm a patient man ;D I wonder if gaming sites will do a redux review on the DX11 graphics.
