IGN: Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Hands-On

Walking into the first stateside demo of the Xperia Play, I was admittedly a little apprehensive. After all, how could Sony Ericsson make a gaming-centric smartphone powerful enough for experienced players, but also functional, intuitive, and accessible for the average smartphone user? Well, after going hands-on with the device, my perspective has gone from "skeptical" to "hopeful."

I had the option of waiting for this or getting an iphone 4. I chose the later. My fear was that the device would release to little fanfare and that few Experia Play specific games would be made for it. Of course this is nothing but speculation, but it doesn't seem like a sure thing (imo). Furthermore, the non-ability to transfer any of my Playstation 1 games killed it for me.

no thanks, not for me.

i honestly dont see the point for this when theres the NGP coming out and iphones/windows phone 7s/android phones out there already.

NGP is all about games. I want something that actually fits in my pocket and is multi-purpose.

I originally liked the look of the NGP but its size and lack of built in storage has put me off.

Not everyone wants a Dedicated gamnig handheld. Like for example ME. I dont own a PSP or DS. And I dont want those new ones either.

I'd rather my phone that can do both. Multi-purpose device.

My iPhone 4 is getting sold for this device. It has a Slide out Playstation pad. Its gonna make playing games even emulators and roms hundred times better!

Touchscreen gaming is AWFUL.

My next phone :)

Can't wait to get this. My iPhone 4 has met it's end. Time to play my games with Buttons.
