Aspiring Developers Take Note: Move.Me Unveiled at GDC

Hi Gamers, John McCutchan, Senior Engineer with SCEA’s Developer Support team, here to tell you about an exciting initiative we’re unveiling for PlayStation Move during GDC this week. Later today, I’ll be giving a presentation on Move.Me, a new software application that provides academics and hobbyists access to PlayStation Move’s technology, enabling them to create entirely new applications using a PC, the Move motion controller, the PlayStation Eye, and the power of the PlayStation 3 system. We know many of you might not be able to make the trek to San Francisco for the show, so we wanted to give you a quick overview of Move.Me here.

This is very good news. Reminds me of all of the Kinect hacks except this is a more legitimate way of doing it. Plus Sony might actually use what these guys find works well with the MOVE.

If that's what MOVE.me does then that is indeed very interesting news.

I liked some of the Move tech demos I saw and if more users can fiddle around with that then perhaps we can see some good things coming out of it.

Come to think of it, after seeing Kinect hacks, I'd love to see hacks for Move. It'd be really cool if gamers could program Move for games themselves.

eggbert4895d ago

that chameleon tech demo seemed like a great time-waster, and I mean that in a good way.

KillerPwned4895d ago

Will this app be available for everyone?

Gr814895d ago

Who is buying MOVE at this point?

Spitfire_Riggz4895d ago

Actually MORE people are going to buy move with KZ3 and soon Socom 4. Including me

cochise3134895d ago (Edited 4895d ago )

Try using it and you'll see how great it is. It's funny you say it's not selling, yet it's always sold out at stores.

Sheddi4895d ago

Bought it the other day with KZ3 and i must say, it really improves ur gaming and its heaps fun!!
Just beat KZ3 on elite with move and it wasnt even that hard.

cochise3134895d ago

Try it with the sharpshotter. It's 10x more fun and accurate.

pilotpistolpete4895d ago (Edited 4895d ago )

I know what you mean Sheddi, I'm playing it on Veteran and it's a breeze so far. Move just makes it better, funner and more accurate to pick off guys.

My favorite "new feature" Move allows is running and gunning multiple targets fluidly and without looking like an idiot zigzag'ing around.

jack_burt0n4895d ago

@Anius

dont ever try move because then you will realise what a piece of crap wii motion plus is.

NateCole4895d ago

A Nav controller and a Sharp Shooter for KZ3 and Socom4. I already own 2 Move controllers. Since I'm a tech head, this is good news for me, just build a new PC not long ago, I am interested.

Is this something that's supposed to be bought or is it available as a free download?

Sony Music Entertainment Japan, Aniplex, and Pocketpair jointly establish Palworld Entertainment

Sony Music Entertainment Japan, subsidiary Aniplex, and Palworld developer Pocketpair have announced the establishment of Palworld Entertainment, a joint venture that will be responsible for developing the reach of the intellectual property and for expanding commercial business endeavors, including the global licensing and merchandising activities associated with Palworld, outside of the game.

Eonjay16d ago

Does this mean that Palworld is getting an anime?

Abnor_Mal16d ago

Crazy that they’ve formed a partnership of sorts, but the game itself still haven’t been released on PlayStation

badz14916d ago

It's still in Early Access. If it ever goes gold, there will definitely be a PS5 version, might even be a PS4 version too

Abnor_Mal16d ago

I still have no clue what this game is all about, to be honest.

badz14916d ago

@Abnor_Mal

If games like ARK is not to your liking, then Palworld wouldn't be your cup of tea either...I think.

New Sony Controller May Let You Draw Your Own Buttons Using Conductive Ink

Sony has published a new patent about a controller that can be completely personalized by a user, including its shape and layout.

TFJWM31d ago

It is just a patent if it is new tech you file it

S2Killinit30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Dont get me wrong, I love that Sony does these research into new tech and all, after all it led to something as fun as the Dualsense, but im just asking why this particular tech would be useful in any way.

Profchaos30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Interesting idea likely something that will never actually be produced but Sony's simply securing the paten

Profchaos30d ago

Common practice really so many companies pattern troll because they either intend to make a product or just want to hold onto the rights of the idea there's some insane ones out there especially at the dawn of the internet.

You can have no intent to use it but this is just saying you thought of it first

kylegeorge8830d ago

yeah no, the controllers need the hall effect before investing more time and money into quirks.

BlackDoomAx30d ago

But how will they sell as many controllers if they do that?

fsfsxii30d ago

Maybe consider your personal hygiene before blaming someone else for your controller defecting

DustMan30d ago

I doubt @FSFSXII even knows what hall effect is. What a turd.

y2mate30d ago

great idea, but will it fully distributed to other continent ?
