Screenshots Don’t Give Us The Whole Picture

Pretty screenshots don’t provide the whole picture of a game. Screenshots often convince us a game will be brilliant. When we get to play the actual game, we’re disappointed.

PR people and developers do their utmost to make the game appear as attractive as possible. Some are even sneaky enough to pretend that the screenshots released are in-game when in fact they’re clearly CG renders. What are some games that captivated us with brilliant screenshots but disappointed us with the gameplay?

My brother bought that Sonic game a few years ago. Needless to say he swapped it the next day.

Or GT5 photo mode B.S.

Except "GT5 photo mode" uses the same exact car models/details/polygons, etc.

Unlike.... nvm.

Actually, GT5 replay and photo mode run in 30fps, as opposed to the usual 60fps so that they can bump the visuals up a little. Especially in photo mode when taking a photo, they crank of the detail quite a bit and throw some fancy post processing effects on it.

Did GT5 ever pretend photo mode was in-game?

edit
and after reading the article, not all the cars look like "shitty standard" cars. some of them were definitely intended to be premium but just dont have interior view, which sucks for most because they only drive premium cars like me.

i'll WAIT for an update to a game that's meant to last years.

this article was a petty jab at GT5 by an xBot.

What 30fps adds is motion blur.
Post processing effects are optional.

I hate screenshots. Why do we need them? Make animated gifs!

Tachyon_Nova4802d ago (Edited 4802d ago )

Just watch a video?

Edit: Fair point you make below.

if they dont want to make video, then instead static screenshots animated gifs will be much better.

Still need to check out Frontiers at some point. Just waiting on a really good Steam sale for it.
