As you may have read from different publications both in news stands and around the Internet, a lot of writers from the industry are calling 2011 the “Year of Sequels”. With titles like Dragon Age 2, Gears of War 3, Elder Scrolls V, Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3, Portal 2, Dead Space 2, Batman: Arkham City, Killzone 3 and possibly Modern Warfare 3, just to name a few, it would be more suitable to call 2011 the “Year of Series”. Either way, the next assumption gamers make is developers are simply running out of ideas for new games that are worth the large investment for high profile titles. Although the notion is understandable, it couldn’t be further from the truth.
Discover 10 timeless video games from the past that remain absolutely playable today. From Chrono Trigger to DOOM, these classics have aged like fine wine!
Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.
Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.
The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

Players are using hacks to gain an advantage in the game, such as aimbots and wall hacks. The first gives a player superhuman aiming abilities, while a wall hack lets you see through walls to gauge where other players are.
“These hacks are typically used by PC players, but those playing on PC via Xbox Game Pass are identified as Xbox players in multiplayer lobbies.”
This is pretty dumb to say the least.
Don't Gamepass online games have anti-cheat systems?
If not, that's pretty dumb. Microsoft need to fix that asap.
I mean, COD games was always filled with hackers, nothing new. I can’t blame MS on this. Activision had years to try and fix this. Might take MS some time to make some change.
In the gaming industry every year is the "year of the sequel."
Great article though. Lots of good stuff to look forward to in the coming months.
As long as they are good games I don't mind the sequels - I think I was ready for Halo to be done however with Bungie
A lot of good games coming out this year. Can't wait to get my hands on them. I agree with MultiConsoleGamer though. There are a bunch of sequels coming out every year. I think this one may be better than recent though
I am so sick of seeing the same games released with numbers behind their names . I cant wait until we see something new for once.
Assassins creed
Batman
Halo
Gears
Resistance
the list goes on and on. Sick of it. Give me new!
idk but im very happy about it....no questions asked
